Can someone explain what this message means?
My sister in law has sent me a video of her grandaughter.
When I look at the outlook express e-mail (in the subject line), it says There's a triangle.....then 012.AVI (7.03MB). I double click to open this, and I get the following message : THIS FILE DOES NOT HAVE A PROGRAM ASSOCIATED WITH IT FOR PERFORMING THIS ACTION. CREATE AN ASSOCIATION IN THE FOLDER OPTIONS CONTROL PANEL. Anybody have a clue?? thanks much. Mel |
This is information about playing an AVI file in Windows Media Player. http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/arch...o_play_avi.cfm

Let us know if that helps you.
What media players do you have on your machine? Windows Media Player? I'm wondering - if you save that file and then open WMP {Windows Media Player} then go to file - open/ then open the saved file to see if it will play that way. |
I was thinking about this very thing. Maybe she can save the file to her desktop, and open from there.

Can't save the file. It gives me two options. Open and Cancel
If I click open, I get that message. Will look into those links. and update. Thanks much. Melody |
Okay, now I get it. We are talking about Codecs and codes and creating folders.
Oh yeah, you got the right person here. If it doesn't open up after I click it, then the person who sent it has to re-send it to me the way they used to send me stuff. I'm not going to be putting in folders in the Control Panel. What the heck does that mean anyway?? Mel |
maybe they can upload it to google as a video and send you the link- or send the file a different way to you.

I told my sister-inlaw and I think she just told her daughter to send me the video via another thingee. I don't know what you call these things.
Hey, I'm almost 60. I've got time to learn. lol Melody |
