Anatomy Question of Sorts

What vein is it that is directly in front of your inner right ankle? It seems to be kind of big, and goes from almost the bottom of the front portion of the inner ankle upwards to about 1/4 of the way up my calf.

If you know what that vein is, is there a way to do something to make it stick out and hurt?! I don't see that vein on my left leg but it's sticking out on my right one and every time I take a step it zaps me. :(

I'm not going to the doctor, so a tip on how to make it happy again would be greatly appreciated!

(((((((((((Ellie)))))))))))))

I did have that area's blood vessels swollen once when I was having peculiar pains in my heels when walking ( turned out to be part of malathione pesticide poisoning from being "crop sprayed" with the mosquitoes :eek:on an early morning beach walk during the 90s)

It can also happen if you bump that area I would think

I found soaking my feet in a basin of warm epsom salts water helped, as did those ice packs, rested on the veins...tho it is very sensitive to touch isnt it

also, when you are lying down, try to keep that leg a bit elevated

hope it goes down quickly

an anatomy link - ankle

on one site image that I saw it shows the blood vessel running right next to the nerve so if swollen it could be impinging on the nerve - thus the zaps.

keep an eye on it for any changes or worsening.

My vein is still being naughty. :( I had checked another place in November and this is what I wrote then..

This is really weird and hard to explain, so I'll do my best. This started around 1 month ago, but seems to be progressive. There's a vein in front of my inner right ankle. I get this nerve-shock type of pain, sometimes a burning pain. Fairly dull for the most part (it's not severe but pain will increase with pressure, so I will limp a bit). I'd rank it a 3-4 on a 1-10 scale.

Anyway, the vein was virtually invisible, however, when it hurts it will stick out pretty large, too. It was only that one spot until a week ago, where I noticed I had pain on my left wrist (inner portion, right side) and when I looked down, that vein was also bulging somewhat. When the pain stops, the vein swelling/bulging will go down soon afterwards (except my right ankle which that vein always sticks out now). So far, this has happened on my right foot by the ankle and the top and bottom of my foot, my left wrist, my left thumb (side of it), my right thumb, the right side of my neck, and my right temple.

Currently, this has now moved to my left foot and is still causing a 'zapping' type of sensation, last Friday it did this off and on for several hours. I had to attend a party later that evening and standing for several hours was almost unbearable. I'm not sure what it is, still - and assuming no-one else does. I'd mentioned it to my Rheumatologist who said vein swelling is normal when a limb is 'hanging' but this happens whether I am standing, sitting, or even in bed with my legs elevated. She's pretty inattentive and I am fairly certain she has selective hearing, so I don't bother explaining more to her.

Has anyone heard of this or am I just crazy?
