Bone scan divergences?

Bone scan results.. my last Triple phase bone scan showed NO RSD in my right worst foot now where it did show a year ago.. my now left foot shows RSD.

My fear is that WCB here will presume that means my RSD has gone away in what they consider the only compensible area my rt foot. I found reference to bonescans decreased and increased uptake having a shelf life of a year or so. but can't find anymore.

And my doc said ohh thats to be expected.. but didn't know where I could find reference to it for WC.. So as I was saying I have found one very short reference to it in "Wall and Melzeck's Textbook of Pain but need another because it is not clear enouph.

Any ideas would be muchly apreciated.

Hi Sandra,

I am surprised that bone scans are actually being used by WC as a tool to diagnose RSD.
I am sorry if this makes a difference to your claim.
Because the scans of someone with RSD can be normal or show both increased or decreased uptake then here in Australia it is not thought to be an accurate method of making a definitive diagnosis.

I have decreased but variable uptake in my feet but increased uptake in my upper limbs yet my plain film x-ray show my arm bones to be almost transparent:confused:
Oh so confusing--sorry I realise I haven't really helped you with my reply.

Take care
Tayla:hug:
