Looking to leave town lol...scs trial tomorrow
 

I'm sitting here in bed this morning getting kinds scared about tomorrow. I know I want it, but I also know I've heard and seen pics of the trial. I don't know if I can handle several feet of wired out my back. Actually, the wired don't bother me all that much, but I have 3 dogs that sleep in bed with us. They always seem to want to sleep touching me. that's ok,,, but I'm concerned that one of them will get tangled up in the wired. they are small dogs after all. I think that I'm just getting scared. I'm sure tomorrow that I'll be back to being calm and ok. Always the day before I get scared. I know I just need to get over it and do what I know I want to do...but still.......Just wanted to vent.

I haven't went through the trials of anything like that but I been through enough surgeries that I know what it's like to be scared and worried about having it. Maybe if you could do some relaxing techniques to help you relax, that could help calm you down and relax you.

Soak in a warm bubble bath today to help you relax. I know you won't be able to have some for awhile with the surgery.

I don't know how the wires will run but wear a nightshirt or gown over you to kind of protect them from the dogs and maybe put pillows around you to keep them from getting to close to you in bed.

I hope this trial does what you want it too. Everyone is looking for different ways to help them with the RSD and I am hoping this will be the way to go for you.

when you get ready for bed, just make sure that you tuck the wires into a pocket.......maybe get some jammies with side pockets, or even fanny pack....ya know, those little bags that go around your waist .......
frank had no trouble with our dog........they can sense something is amiss, and usually will stay out of the way........
hope that you get great relief with the trial..........frank slept on our lazy boy for some of the trial time tho............and the dog left him alone....slept next to him, but left him be...............
your back will be taped up rather well so it would be hard to pull anything out...........

thank you for your words of encouragement. I know this is what I want, but there is just a part of me that is scared. I will be so ok tomorrow. My daughter and her roommate are leaving to go back to Rutgers today, so I will have time to just sit and relax once they are gone. My other daughter who is going to VCU in Richmond will be up here tomorrow nite to stay with me for a few days. that way hubby can save some of his leave for when I get the perm. unit. doc said that they will removed the leads from the trial. and then wait about 3 weeks or so for the back to heal and to make sure there wasn't an infection, then they would put the perm on in. I was hoping that the trial would come out and the perm one in on the same day. I guess my insurance required more paper work after the trial come out. Oh well, I guess that is the way it will be. still a little scared tho....:yikes:

With the wires, like emily's gma said, just tuck them in and plus they are tapped up good with so extra length under the tape so if something does tug on the wires is shouldnt mess wit the placement! I had both the scs and pns one in my leg and had a st. bernard in the bed and she didnt bother it or tug on them at all. While up and moving around i wore those adias excersise pants , they are like nylon, like silky so they dont stick to my leg and stuck the wires down the leg of them so they woldnt hang out! Its not that bad at all... its chnaging the dressing with all the wires that is the pain, but once you do it once you get the hang of it !! The worst part of the trial was not showering and bending and lifting my hands over my head!! I had my trial in for 2 weeks and then went right in for the perm one. The surgery isnt that bad at all either. I have pics of what my back incision looks like and the wires comming out of it too if you want to see them.. they are that gross..lol Good luck with your surgery and let us know how it goes when you are up and around!! Fingers crossed this helps you alot!!

Go shopping or something to get your mind off everything and time will fly by and you will be home with no pain soon!!

Wishing you lots of luck and success with your trial. It is all normal fear of the unknown that you are experienceing now but try and reassure yourself that this maybe the answer to your pain:)
Like the others say, the wire can be covered by your clothes and you will soon not even realise it is there (apart from the no showering) and there really isn't too much discomfort from the surgery at all.

I will be thinking about you tomorrow. Do not worry yourself about your SCS trial, I am sure it will go fine. Think positive you could be better soon!
I am not sure what you can do to stop the dog's from getting tangled in the wires. See if your dr can give you any tips.

... best of luck!!! I'm sure it will go swimmingly... about having animals - do you sleep on your back or could you wear a long nightgown or something? Sorry I can't offer many suggestions - at home I sleep with 3 or 4 cats on the bed so I know what thats like (very large cats.. probaly equal to small dog!).

Really hope it gives you some relief!!
