hello to all

great to be here!
hope someone out there can help me with something.
i really was hoping to get some insight into some problems i have been having with inner ear infections. well, actually i have had this one for over 3 months with 3 different rounds of antibiotics and to no avail. the pain keeps me in tears, my neck and head and face hurt. i have just gotten really discouraged about it.nothing seems to work. my doctor says they are common and can take a long time to go away. i have never ever had an ear infection in my life. he says my left eardrum was red and bulging and that is what is causing the pain. but i have been on cefzil for 2 weeks and it is flaring up again. anyone have any suggestions???
i would be ever so grateful!!!!

tired of the pain

Hi ((Janward)). Welcome to NeuroTalk.

Ear pain is just awful! I'm so sorry you're having these problems. I don't want to lead you in the wrong direction, but has anyone ever suggested Temporal Mandibular Joint syndrome? For years my P-doc would send me home with medicine thinking I had ear infections. Finally, when I went to him with pain in my neck up into my ear, he decided to send me to the nose/ear/throat specialists.

Luckily, that doctor knew right away what my problem was. TMJ. It flares frequently and is quite painful. It can hurt in your jaw, neck, face, ear.

But that's me. It sounds to me like you want try to get in to see the nose/ear/throat specialists for sure!!!

I'm not sure where to send you in our forums. I did a search for ear pain and came up with posts in all kinds of forums. The search feature is up above in the blue bar.

Here is a link to the forums' index as well. http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/index.php

Again, I think you should request a trip to a specialist. Good luck dearheart! :grouphug:

Hi Jan, :Wave-Hello: Welcome to NeuroTalk!

I third the motion to see an ENT. I've also had some doozies and one of their tricks was to add a topical antibiotic by putting tiny ear wicks into the canals and I added the drops on a schedule. The wicks absorb the med and hold it in place. It worked wonders for me.
