Does this sound familiar to anyone?????

Hi ,

I am new to this site! I have a 20 month old son who I think may be having seizures of some sort. He tightens his body up and stares for a couple of seconds. It started when he was first discovered his hands. he would wave his hands (by twisting his wrists) and open is mouth looking at them and tense up his body.

This changed later to a squeezing of his fists, tensing his face and whole body. At about 18 mos this changed to bringing his hands up to his face and pushing in his cheeks. He tenses his body when he does this and seems to hold his breath.

I have shown this behavior to four doctors. All of them say it is nothing and just wait it out. But, I know something is not quite right.

I am going to seek the help of a naturopathic doctor to see if he has any deficiencies and also the help of a neurologist.

Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Please help. I feel alone in this as everyone treats me like I am crazy and trying to create of problem with my son where there is none.

Hi ((Angela)). Welcome to NeuroTalk.

I have no clue what this could be, I'm so sorry. Does he exhibit any other kind of physical problems? Any developmental delay of any kind? Is he crawling and such on schedule?

I did a search here on seizures, and came up with posts in many different forums. You may want to talk with the people in the epilepsy forum which is here. http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/forumdisplay.php?f=11

Your thought on taking him to a neurologist sounds like a great step to me and I would pursue that if it were me.

Hugs. :grouphug:

Hi Angela, :Wave-Hello: Welcome to NeuroTalk!

I understand your frustration and applaud you for taking things into your own hands on this. Poor little dude, I hope it's nothing but I would also want answers.

I wonder how hard it would be to find a pediatric neurologist. Do look around here and feel free to join in the discussions or to post your own threads. I hope you find some answers for him.:)
