Guess this is a stupid question....

Hi, everybody!!! Haven't been around since January, and it turned out that I have MS besides the polyneuropathy and fibro. In these 10 months, my meds have gone thru the roof...but I am hoping that there is some sort of good news to help with the pain of fibro. I have just been out of touch with the real world and don't hear anything new in that regard. My mom sent me an article on Lyrica, and I sorta got the impression that it is only along the lines of Elavil (amitriptelene). Does anybody know?

I am now on Fentanyl 100mg every 48 hours, Chlordiazpx/Amitrip 5mg, Effexor 150mg twice a day, Omeprazole 20mg twice a day, Evista 60mg, Prednisone 5 mg 1 1/2 a day, and then Copaxone (for MS) one injection per day. I am not happy to be taking the Fentanyl, because where does it go from there? I am hoping for some miracle drug to come out. Have y'all heard of anything?

Hi--I am a returning newbie also. With FM.
Lyrica is an anti-siezure med also being used to treat FM pts. pain or those with PN )nerve pain).
Personally--it isnt something I would want--I do not trust the use of anti-siezure meds for pain but many people do well so understand it is my preference only.

As for a miracle drug? NO,pacing myself is the only thing that helps me reduce how much medicine I need.
Anyway--nice to meet you.

Lyrica is in the same family as Neurontin as Bubbi said an anti-seizure. If you want to gain mega-weight then go for it. I have heard mixed reviews about it. Thanks to Neurontin I gained a ton of weight and I don't want to be on anything like it again. But at same time I don't want to tell you that it doesn't work....it is the ONLY med out there that is listed as a med for FM right now.
