Not a very eventful week..I thought that I had my boat sold, but the guy called me back and changed his mind..So its back to square one..Trouble is nobody wants to get in the fishing business anymore, and theres only a select group of people who can get involved because you cant get a license to fish anymore so there arent any newcomers getting into the industry

I started fishing again yesterday, and although it feels good to get out and do something, I pay the price when I get done, but I'll be damned if Im gonna let that stop me..At least I can still bounce back with a good nap..If it were a deal where it would put me down for a few days, then I would have to stop fishing altogether..Other than that I met with my lawyer to get my moms estate settled, and it should get probated in about a month

So thats my week..How is everyone doing this week?

Not much happening here. Have a visitor from Yugoslavia (Serbia). He will be at the Lab for about 2 months. On Friday I'll go to Green Bay for the Burckle family reunion. My grandson is crawling now. Needs more attention. He's great. Had an appointment with my PD last Friday. Nothing new. They mentioned a new trial; a follow up to PRECEP 1347. This will feature deeper probing into my PD including DNA analysis. I told them to sign me up.

I am so interested in all the information I have learned on this site (and the old BT1). I've always believed I was a bit hypo-glycemic, so will be following up on that.

I make sure I walk heel first, take my magnesium, have a blender drink with curcumin and ginger, try to get some green tea in every morning, am frequently inspired to exercise - all of which helps. Thank you so much to everyone who contributes their knowledge and theories.

Just finished a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner at my sister-in-law's. I'm the pumpkin pie queen, and everyone brings something. We hold hands and sing the Johnny Appleseed blessing before we eat, and everyone has to say something they're thankful for. A lot of the younger generation are away at college, but it's still a wonderful group, one I appreciate more all the time. ( For anyone who is confused, Canadians celebrate Thanksgiving in Oct. and Americans in Nov.)

Yesterday we attended the wedding of the first of our kids' friends to be married. Our oldest son was best man, and it was a really happy day. We danced some and visited lots.

Hope everyone is doing well, and am looking forward to hearing more about sugar levels.

Today is a recovery day. Saturday the rescue that I work with had an adoption event. That meant getting up at 4:00 AM to bathe my four foster dogs, load crates, load dogs and get myself presentable and to the event in time to set up tents and get everything organized before we opened. At 11:00 AM I had to take one of my foster dogs, a shepherd, and another's collie to the vet for shots. Both are VERY heavy dogs and do not like to get into or out of vehicles so I had to pick them up and wrestle them in and out of my truck. When I returned to the event I found that someone had been feeding one of my dogs treats and she had started projectile vomiting. While I was cleaning that up, I was approached by two rednecks who were looking at the Rottweiler puppie that I foster. They wanted a, "large, mean and aggressive" dog. What they saw when they told me that was a, "small, shakey, mean and aggressive" fosterer. I had another woman interested in the fox terrier and she said that she would return after an errand. She never showed. The event ran over because a woman showed up with a pickup truck full of starving dogs. It took an hour to deal with her, and then I had to load my dogs and crates. When I arrived at home, I found that a well intentioned friend had been there to measure for some carpentry work and left a gate open. My horses were loose and grazing in my front yard. I jumped out of my truck and spent and hour chasing them around until I finally got them back to where they belonged. During this time two of the dogs in the crates were howling and the sick dog had switched from vomitting to diarrhea. I got the dogs kenneled and the sick dog cleaned up. I went into the house and checked my voice mail to find a message from some old friends who were a hour away and were coming to visit. The house was a mess from the mornings chaos, so I did a quick cleanup and jumped in the shower. The guests arrived just as I stepped out of the shower. After a short tour of the farm, they took me out to dinner. They dropped me off at home at 10:00 PM. When I walked in I found the sick dog even sicker and called the emergency vet. He returned my call at 10:30 PM. As a result at 11:00 PM I found myself in my car driving back into town to an all night drug store to get medication for the dog. I got home at midnight, cleaned up more mess and finally got to bed at 2:00 AM. A 22 hour, very aggravating day.

Yesterday, I could not walk at all. Today, I must advise a very generous donor that I cannot take the 3 month old Arabian colt he is offering to the rescue to sell for fundraising. I just cannot take care of any more creatures.

Jeez, Mary! How do you do it??? We need a rescue organization for overworked parkies!!! Hope your week is relatively uneventful.

I have been mostly a lurker at BT-1 and here but so enjoy your enthusiasm in helping those on these forums. Your check-in encourages so many to tell of their weekly experiences that they wouldn’t otherwise share with those who need the information.

Your problems in selling your boat prompted me to tell you about my boat sale. I bought small 16 foot skiff in 1987. That year we had 211 inches of rain. At least every other day I trudged down to the dock with a large coffee can and bailed from two inches to 18 inches of water from the boat. I was in my third or fourth year of PD and handled the work pretty well physically but mentally expending all the energy and not being able to use the boat was quite discouraging. I decided to sell it to a co-worker who had lost his boat. A group had gone across the bay, I suspect to smoke some “wacky-tobacky”, and he didn’t tie his boat up. The tide came in and his boat floated away.

I agreed to sell him my boat for $300, my cost plus harbor fees. The Exxon Valdez oil spill occurred a short time later and he leased the skiff to Exxon for $300 per day. They paid him $15,000 for 50 days and never took the boat out of the harbor. He purchased a new pickup truck with his windfall.

If there is a windfall in the disposal of your boat, I hope you are the recipient!!

I have been busy posting about glucose levels etc and hypo/hyper glycemic effect and my computer is not doing well and will probably pass away in the middle of a post one day soon. So I have been in everyones face this week. More than usual. I need to clean up my house...I've neglected everything since I got my glucometer. Thank you soooo much to all of you who have posted and shared their insights into what Everett and I are analyzing the heck out of. ZF has posted some good articles ( as far as I can understand them). Peggy posted about the dietician contact at the APDA site (???) not sure if that's the site. Rick has very tender fingers by now....sacrifice for the masses who could be helped by all this grassroots research. I still have this lousy cold etc. and tired too. But will rise again from the ashes!!!! Have you noticed we all go in cycles? It's Thanksgiving up here so I'd like to say I am thankful for all of you and the support and info this site generates. Thanks to DocJohn and associates for providing a place to exercise our minds and exchange ideas. It's incredibly appreciated :) :) :) :) :) :)
