Stellate Ganglion Block Question
I had my second stellate ganglion block yesterday. The 1st was a diagnositc performed several months back at a different facility and by a different anes. than yesterdays.
At the 1st place, they covered my face with a lead apron shield. Not so at the new one. Today I have what seems to be a sunburn on my face, neck and chest area that were exposed to the radiation. Anyone else experience anything similar to this? Thanks, Cala |
Hi Cala,
When I had my Stellate Ganglion Blocks preformed they were done under Fluoroscopy and my initial diagnostic block was done under open MRI guidance. I never had a lead apron shield placed over my face nor did I have any type of sunburn on my face, neck or chest. You may want to contact your Dr and let them know about the rash as it could be a reaction to the block itself.. Best of luck to you.& Dawn |
Thanks Dawn,
Yes, I called the hospital last night where the block was performed, and the anestheologist oncall suggested it might be a reaction. He said mine was performed under floroscopy as well, and shouldn't have caused a burn. He thought it was odd, how ever that the redness was symetrical and not on the injection side only. He offered to meet me at the ER, but I didn't think it was necessary, I was breathing okay, no itching or rash. I'll speak with my anes. tomorrow and ask her what she thinks. I hope this doens't mean I can't continue with the series.
Thanks for your thoughts. I appreciate the response. I wonder, has anyone else had a similar reaction?? Thanks, Cala |
