Codex meetings to decide on our supplements.
These week long Codex meetings are to decide on the future of supplements around the world. Make no mistake these beurocrats will have their way if they possibly can. Our mutual organistaions in the UK and US are fighting hard for us because if they lose then Codex WILL make sure that all supplements and vitamins be available only on a doctors prescription. BTW the Californian radio station website is www.iamhealthyradio.com.

Tony,
The first link is not a good one. It brings up a screen that says domain for sale. But the second link is good. Could you have put a period, or forgot to select. Thank you for this information. It's very valuable and is necessary for all of us to read and do what we can. Billye |
Thanks Tony

This website gives some valuable and interesting information regarding the Natural Solutions Foundation. There is some doubt however regarding recent comments made by Dr Rima E. Laibow. Those excluded I think this article explains some of the concerns regarding the future of supplements and vitamins particularly in the USA. It is imperative that everyone does as much as possible before the end of 2009. We are doing all we can in Europe where the threat is much more imminent, through the Alliance of Natural Health, to stop Codex from banning all but the ridiculous RDA levels. Although many of you may know all about this threat I thought it might be helpful to some if they saw just what is going on "behind their backs" as it were. Tony |
This situation makes me very uncomfortable as well. I have bugged my representatives over recent years, to make sure they know some of us are watching.

I have to admit my quality of life would definitely suffer if I couldn't have my calcium citrate/magnesium glycinate combo, B-complex multi, purified fish oil and probiotics. Those of us whose bodies cannot process nutrients normally due to illness could end up in a world of hurt. fanfaire  |
Tony,
Again? I remember over a year ago, your post on the very same Codex problem. Its just too much volume for me to process, I'm afraid. My meds won't let me concentrate that deeply. I'll have to rely on the simplified versions and synopses. When actually (date) will this all come to a final conclusion? I thought that it was supposed to already have gone and past. |
Bob – From the paragraph extracted below it would seem that Dec 31 2009 is the date on which all freedom will be lost. In Europe however it is likely to be sooner. What this really means is that from that date Codex will decide and instruct on what a supplement or vitamin may contain in order to be sold OTC anywhere in the world. Any increase in the strengths of the contents will have to be at the discretion of your doctor. Thousands of people like myself are helping the legal fight against Codex here in Europe by contributing towards the vast legal expenses incurred by the Alliance of Natural Health and other bodies. These organisations are doing all they can to challenge this Wellsonian legislation. I for example pay $20 per month into the fund, for without such contributions from people worlwide we would have already lost the fight.
Quote: “Codex Alimentarius will go into global implementation by December 31, 2009, unless We, the People, avert it. We must act now because right now, with $758 Million spent on declared Congressional lobbying by Big Pharma last year, there are members of Congress who are trying to overturn DSHEA and allow Pharma-friendly free reign for Codex. If protective laws like DSHEA are destroyed, the sanctioning power of the autocratic WTO kicks in, and it will be impossible to get out from under Codex Alimentarius. We can protect our access to high potency nutrients and stave off an adulterated food supply only by putting pressure on Congress” fanfaire - Dr. Grossklaus obviously has a vested interest in calling supplements “toxic nutrients” as he owns the company that advises Codex!! Adastra/Tony I am afraid this issue got
kind of lost by other issues...It happens. But I agree with many of your concerns. The supplement/nutrition industry is NOT and should NOT ever be left to MD's who for a majority can't discern that any nutrient deficiency not merely within normal levels are, could or definitely may be an issue key to any condition or disease. UMMM duh...excuse me? I am HERE?
I do not know how it works in GB., but here usually patients are either referred to certified 'nutritionists' or diabetic counselors...essentially NP's or LLN's [nurse practictioners or Licensed [Somethings'] Nutritionists- It is the exception, tho, not the rule. Even then, unless one is in a critical cardiac or diabetic state one's insurance here covers it...or not. There are some free or low cost programs available, but again they would never ever reach the degree of complexity we all discuss here! And we all get here what we pay for...quality is in the eyes of either the beholder or the receiver. It IS one true mercenary world? Your concerns do tho converge into a whole bigger and far worse issue! That of where this stuff is made, how it's processed, transported and used...and in what forms. It is like all of our global foods these days? At times tho, and this is the aspect upon which we should all focus is the QUALITY CONTROLS! Not who dispenses these particular products. Should the whole shebang go to the Med Professions? Would they not collapse totally under that conversion? No Brainer? That all said, apparently some folks in the zeal to forbid the 'good' trade as it is forget about the overall consequences. Some folks just WANT what they want...dang the consequences! I mean, the whole 'gluten' thing? Soy probably next? Where are the vitamins and minerals 'harvested' and processed? Honestly we have no clue...let alone having the ability to get viable, honest numbers regarding product content, let alone quality under today's standards. I think, not only once-but twice and four times now before I ever commit to purchasing a supplement. This is not the way we should have to live, nor want to! We just want to LIVE and feel better! I know you and I certainly do NOT need that extra stress! What to do? I dunno. The whole magilla [as they say?] does open up lots of cans of worms no one want's to slog thru tho...I am thinking. Hope YOU are feeling even a tiny bit of let-up. At times that is what we can and do truly HOPE for! - j |
