Oh Rich,

I am so sorry to hear of all the pain and surgeries you have endured.

I have not taken Methadone, but have been taking Kadian for a few years now. I also take lots of other stuff for other diagnosis. The Kadian I take is 30mg once at night and once in the afternoon. I am careful not to drive etc., for at least 1 1/2 hours after ingestion, but other than that, I am pretty functional. I do take Perkocet also, but that does not make me drowsy.

My dosage of Kadian is relatively low, so I am sure you are being monitored for your response. On some other forums, patients in extreme, constant pain, such as RSD, have found the internal pain pump very helpful. That also depends upon the person.

If your physician is knowledgeable regarding Methadone, do not hesitate to ask questions and to keep him/her current with your reactions. We are all unique in our response to medications, so you alone will determine what will work. There ARE lots of alternative medications out there, so try not to despair.

I hope you are taking the appropriate medication for depression, for THAT is the real danger.

I wish you luck with the Kadian. I have not had problems.

Warmly,
Anne
