b 12 patch

Hey EVERYONE!!!
hello, how are ya'll doing?

Has anyone tried the b12 patch?

Any feedback?

It's cynocobalamin transdermal 1000 mcgs.......

Neuro hasn't heard of it, was going to prescibe the nasal spray, but........uhm........i'm just not putting anything in my nose thanks....

Wondered if anyone here has tried it, or has an opinion.

thanks for listening.
take care,
lah

Oral doses of at least 1000 mcg have a very long track record, and inexpensive and easy. And when one lives in the US or some other place where methylcobalamin B12 is available, one can get that. Even hydroxycobalamin is better than cyanocobalamin. Cyanocobalamin is the least effective.

b12 dose

Hi Rose,
Thanks for your help,
I've been taking b12 cyanocobalimin injected 1000 mcgs, weekly for 1 1/2 years and got up to 800, then for no reason it rocked down to 400, and
then 550, and then they set me at twice monthly......and I was up to 668 two weeks ago.

I've asked the neuro if I could take the methylcobalamin sublingual or the b12 patch. He asked me to get the info to him via email.

I had the boat load of blood taken this am.......I lost count at 12 tubes....don't know what that all will turn up.

So, I am looking for the very best link to those two types of b12 to try to get info to my doctor.

thanks
laura

Well...

I always wonder why the patient has to do the work for the doctor, the latter who gets PAID money. Or better yet, why people like me have to do it for free too, because the doctor is just unmotivated to learn new things! LIke it is sooooo hard to type in methylcobalamin into Google!

The bottom line is that cyanocobalamin is an artificial substance that the body cannot use. It has to be converted to the active form methylcobalamin and this process may fail for some people. This is chemistry, and doctors don't have a good grasp of chemistry either.

Tell your doctor that the RX vitamin Metanx has methyl in it for this reason:
www.metanx.com
Doctors love to see drug reps who give them gifts and spoon feed them information. So he can call the rep from that company and learn all about it.

Here is an article that explains it a little bit:
http://www.doctormurray.com/newsletter/1-11-2003.htm

Methylcobalamin is over the counter when not mixed with high dose folate like the Metanx. No RX is needed for you to buy it and use it yourself.
It is available on many websites...the Jarrow brand is pretty popular here.
I use www.iherb.com

In regards to the patch.... that is way overpriced for getting what you need. I have a long post about this,
if you search this forum for B12 patch you will find that thread.

After providing YOUR doctor with this information, ask him if he will reimburse you for your time, by giving you a
free visit? I can guess what that answer will be.

I have long taken b 12 supplements and then added the other bs a few yrs ago ...

I guess my worry with a patch would be WHAT are the INACTIVE ingrediants that are also being absorbed

remember...

There are no official studies on the patch that it even works.

The oral has had proof of effectiveness.

If you have $25.00 + shipping to pay each month, then give it a try.
But please, do come back and tell us if your blood levels have improved.
