From Pn board about fibromyalgia/myofacial?

Hi. I was dx with pn but since my pain level has been so high with little relief and my other issues I have the last doc thought I may in addition have fibromyalgia or myofacial pain. Some of the other docs too feel I have something simlar to rsd. I have had extensive workup in tests. The pain was originally only in the left inner ankle/foot/calf but has spread to similar in the right. There is extreme tightness in both calves, the inner ankles feels like no circulation, tender to even the touch.I also have an out of it and dizzy that comes and goes with some breathing issue. I have tried many meds with no relief so then the pain docs wanted to do a spinal cord stimulator or a catheter. The last doc though said if its fibromyalgia or myofacial pain this would not work for it. I have just moved to Ca in the sounthern area. I went to a pain specialist at ucla who was horrible. I have no clue on what kind of doc to see now. A holistic family med doc thought I may have the fibromyalgia or myofacial pain. If anyone has any referrals and or suggestion of the next kind of doc to see. I have seen 2 pain docs, the cleveland clinic day program for pain,2 neuro, endo, multiple gp,ortho etc. Thank you.

To be dx'd with FM you might want to try a Rheumatologist. They are the most familiar before pain docs with the symptoms and how to treat you. The pain specialist is right. If the pn is FM, the stim may not work so much because it is muscular. I also have pn in my left leg because of sciatica. Every 6 months or so I get Radio Frequency Ablations of the nerves around the L3 thru L5 area to stop the pain. I am actually do for one next week.
There are plenty of options, but my next step would be a Rheumy.

Thank you. That is what I heard. I'm trying to find a whole doc who will look into a whole approach. I have pn but also something else is going on. The specialists as you know only focus on there area and don't look into other aspects. I know the treatments are very different like you say. So before I would do something invasive like the stimulator I want to make sure all bases are covered. Good luck on your treatment.
