Hydrogen Peroxide soak?
I had someone tell me the other day to try pouring a couple of bottles of Hydrogen Peroxide into a footbath and soak my feet in it. Not hot water but certainly not cold either. He claims it would relieve the PN pain. Anyone else heard of this?

I have not heard of that. I have heard and tried the epsom salt. I also heard the med temp water is better. I guess extreme cold or hot can aggrevate the nerves. Random? Who is claming this?Is it suppose to sooth or bring swelling down?I don't know sorry. I always fear trying new things cause I don't want to pay in pain if you know what I mean.

Hydrogen peroxide
has been used topically to kill organisms.
Since the fungus of athlete's foot, may remain dormant for a time, and cause burning, without visible lesions, H202 may help. I don't see how it can hurt topically. Orally or injected is extremely controversial and I can't recommend that. The fatty layer in the skin is not likely to pass oxygen into tissue. A lipofilic molecule can cross much more effectively. I don't think it can be harmful used this way, but on mucous membranes H202 can burn and irritate. |
Hi Jarrett. I have not heard of peroxide being used for PN. I have used it as a first aid treatment for cuts etc. But I have been warned by medical people that it is not a good idea to use peroxide more than once on the cut (it breaks done too much tissue--this is the current opinion)
I just thought of something: if you do mess with peroxide use the 3% medical version, NOT the 30% bleach version! Take care:) |
I had the same thoughts given what I know about hydrogen peroxide. Guess it wouldn't hurt to try it just once at least to see what happens. But I don't think it's something that could be used on a regular basis without causing other problems with the skin. It 'eats' good tissue as well as bad tissue.
And I can't for the life of me figure out just how HP would affect PN pain! Curious though.... |
