Has anyone heard the term.....
........Transneuronal Degeneration or may be called Transneuronal Atrophy? If so, what has it been related to in terms of disease process?
I can't find much information about this apart from injury induced Transneuronal Atrophy and that is not what I am looking for. Any clues or profound thoughts? |
this is an alternate term:
http://cancerweb.ncl.ac.uk/cgi-bin/o...uronal+atrophy
From what I can see it means the cell body of the neuron dies, and that it is worse, than just having axonal damage (the axon is only part of the neuron), which may heal and repair. Transsynaptic degeneration: http://medical-dictionary.thefreedic...c+degeneration |
