Ok so the way I see it if Pfizer find that Lyrica realy helps with CRPS then just mabie they will do some advertizement blitzes like they did for fibromyalgia :)

an heres a study of pregabalin in the management of central neuropathic pain as well.. actualy I think I will write Pfizer a letter.. hmm migt be a good idea for more than one letter.. what think you about this?

all i can say is that as well as having MS i am an amputee, i had my leg amputated due to complex regional pain syndrome. It was only a partial success due to the very nature of CRPS, and i developed phantom pain as well. The phantom pain is not oresent all the time but when it is, it is very severe electric shock like sensation that comes in sharp bursts for hours at a time, for some reason mainly at night- its enough to really make me yelp, involuntarily ( the poor old dog gets scared and hhides under the bed!) I had been on gabapentin and had had reasonable relief from that but still had some really bad nights at times. About 12 months i was out on Pregabalin (Lyrica) and it has been extremely effective, i have had the occasional bad night but it tends to be odd jabs of pain now rather than hours of electric shock like pains as before. I find i sleep a lot better than i used to generally before taking the medication. The only problem at all is that here in Australia it is not officially listed for pain management, only as an anticonvulsant, that means that our governemtn prescription scheme will not permit is for this use, most Docotrs would have to write a "private script"" and i would have to pay full cost which is quite expensive. I have been able to access it via a gvernment prescription as a patient of a pain clinic at a major teaching hospital, the Head of the pain unit can approve it for pain control on the grounds that other treatments have failed so i can get a months supply for $4.90- it would just be so much easier if i could get it through my local Doctor along with all my other medications.

I am in Australia too and I agree the fact that the alternative uses of drugs like Neurontin and Lyrica should be recognised by the government and the price adjusted accordingly.
I was wondering where abouts in Australia you are? I have screamed out for amputation so often but my team are very firm that it is a "no go".
Interesting to note that you have found it fairly successful.

Hi All,
I am currently taking Lyrica 225mg daily and it is not helping the pain in my leg mad:
However, you will probably be aware that RSD spread to my arm after a knock. Lyrica did take away most of the pain in my arm :), I just wish it would help the pain in my leg, I am sick of it and it is really getting me down:mad:. My arm is now fully recovered thankfully.:winky:
I believe that the Lyrica helped the pain in my arm because it was not as bad as my leg and I was already on Lyrica when I knocked my arm.

There is no cure, but there IS hope

I take Lyrica and I find it does help alot for me, when I miss a dose or two I realy notice it, I am on the same dose as you Ali my doctor wanted to increase it but it makes me feel disoriented and weird at a higher dose.. some meds do that to me, gabipentin did too but it went away after a bit.. My doc said the lyrica should do the same but it didn't, I may have to increase it anyway this winter but I am waiting till I absolutly have to.
