Social Security

Hello,

I first want to say hello to everyone out there. I am new to this site. I was searching online about a fully favorable decision by SSI and I was brought this sit. I am glad to be here. I just recieved a fully favorable decision for ss disiblity after a hearing I had on 08/14/07. I applied in July 2004. I am still waiting on my first check. It seems to be taking forever. I would say to anyone out there waiting to never, never, give up.

Moneymaker.. I wish you the best of luck tomorrow.. don't worry.. just be yourself and tell EVERYTHING you go thru and have been thru. It was a long haul for me too ( 4 years ) .

I ended up with a denial at the ALJ but that was because of the Lawyer I had at the time. Hired a new one later on and just got fully favorable. So don't give up ! Good Luck !!

Re: Social Security Disability

I just won my disability case two weeks ago. I am waiting for my check as well. I heard it can take up to a month and a half to get it. Then there is a bit of waiting period for ssd checks to start coming.
Good Luck, to all starting out, don't give up, keep appealing and filling out that dumb paperwork, When you get to time for court date hire a lawyer that is on the social security admin. list of the lawyers they work with. They will not get paid unless you win. They get a portion of your back earnings, but hey, you win the case, you have money coming in don't cry about paying the lawyer. Plus the admin judge will say how much they get paid. I waited four years for my court date, most get done earlier than that. It was very hard mentally and phyically having to wait so long and having to learn how to live on next to nothing. But it can be done. Best of Luck to Everyone !!

Time Delay for SSDI

My advice to everyone dealing with the SSA is: If they deny your claim, appeal, They seem to deny just about everyone right off the bat, figuring that you will give up and go away. I fought for three years, all the way up the Administrative Law Judge hearing. He seemed surprised I did not have an attorney, and I told him everything was in the file, which he already had, and was about 5 inches thick. All that was needed was for someone to read it who had a basic command of the English language. He took the case under advisement, and three weeks later, I got a letter notifying me that he had ruled that, due to my age, education, and physical problems, I had no realistic chance of obtaining employment, so the SSA was ordered to give me my benefits. Never give up. Appeal at every level until you receive your benefits. 2oxbowgirl, when you say a month and a half to get it, do you mean after you are notified that you have been successful? I know it is not from the time you began. My first check was huge, as they had to pay me back the full three years that I had been dealing with the SSA. finz, I wish you all the luck, just don't let them get you down. dolfinz, congratulations on the final approval. I called a lawyer advertising on TV, supposedly a former SSA judge, and when I said I had been denied, he said then I didn't deserve the benefits and hung up on me. Is it any wonder I handled my case myself?

Social Security

I WAS TRYING TO GET ON SSI FOR 4 YEARS, I FINALLY GOT IT, THE CHECK I GOT FROM THEM WAS BACK PAY FOR THE 4 YEARS. I DID HAVE A LAWYER WHO WORKED JUST ON SSI. SHE WAS GOOD, THEY RAN LOTS OF TEST, ANY TIME I WAS IN THE ER I WOULD GET REPORTS SENT TO HER SAYING WHY I WAS IN THERE. THE RESULTS WOULD GO TO HER OFFICE AS SHE WAS HANDLING CASE, SHE WOULD CALL ME AND TELL ME WERE WE STOOD. WHEN WE HAD TO GO TO COURT SHE CALLED AND THE COURT GAVE THE OK ON ME GETTING SSI, ( I DON`T DRIVE). SO BY HAVING LAWYER IT HELP OUT ALOT. YES SHE GOT PAID ONLY IF I WON , WE SIGNED A PAPER THAT SHE WOULD GET MONEY ONLY IF I WIN, BUT MAKE SURE YOU GET IT IN WRITING.:winky
