OT?: eyes, lungs and liver

I had an eye exam this week. Time for new glasses. I used to have to wear them to drive when my TOS first started acting up, in 1995. (didn't know about tos back then) But my vision got BETTER after a few years so I stopped wearing them.

Anyhow, at my eye exam the Optometrist didn't believe that my vision got better. But after the exam he was surprised that while I did need both distance and close-up correction, my new scrip was far weaker than the old, original scrip. My eyes DID get better!

He said that the eyes, lungs and liver are the only organs in the body that can get better!

I never knew that! Great news for me as my lungs have worried me ever since the lung episode I had with the right rib resection.

I can't help but wonder tho, why has my distance vision worsened? I know the close-up vision is supposed to go at 40-43. Dr said mine lasted a couple years longer than most folks, so that's good! :D My TOS seems to be more aggrivated (winter? scar tissue?) could that be pressing on an optic nerve? Could it be the muscle relaxers messing w/my vision?

Or maybe I'm just getting... o-l-d.

it sucks...but age does effect vision. but there are supplements that can help. what is cool is that now the packaging tells you. sight support that type of thing.

healing the liver and keeping it cleansed really helps over all health. i take milk thistle daily. i had my liver enzyme test come bad a few years ago. no reason was found as to why. i don't take meds that type of thing. my dr told me to take SAM-e and milk thistle. liver has been good since. sure has helped my mood and pms. :o

i do wear contacts. no way around that. everyone in my family wears glasses. my near vision is like macro. weird. it's like i can see using on eof those magnifying mirrors. drives my family batty. i see specks that they can't. :p

my distance vision has improved and i was surprised too.

but i'm going to have my reading increased a bit - my idea - in order to see if i can have better posture and avoid some TOS symptoms. They let me choose from a range of reading corrections, saying it depends on where a person likes to HOLD their reading material. I don't hold, and I bet most TOSers don't either. I set them on a counter or on a pillow, etc. but I do want to not experience a forward neck as I type on a computer and I also want the lenses to last for 3 yrs if possible so I am going to move up the reading script when I fill them this week.

My eyes continue to get worse every year! So frustrating... Between contacts, saline solution and other supplies, prescription glasses, prescription sunglasses, non prescrition sunglasses - I must spend a fortune every year! However, although I've been told I would be a great candiate for Lasik surgery, I just cant bring myself to do it! Just the thought of it freaks me out! Even though everyone who I have talked to that has had it, loves it, and wishes they had done it sooner.
