Flood recovery day!

Saturday is the big day. Wish me luck!

We have a small team (6) to move what furniture first that did not get wet.

Next, the furniture that did get wet that can be cleaned and saved.

Lots of sorting to be done.

Then, carpet to be cut up and pack out.

Sheetrock to come out...insulation to come out.

Pray that all goes quickly.

Nappy, you take care of Buffy and Doggy for me! You be nice to them. Give them food and water. Pat them on the head. Go on, you can do it!

Holy cow, I didn't realize that you'd had that much damage. What a drag, I'm sorry you'll be stuck doing all that nasty work all day. I'm glad you're all safe!

as for those fur-bearing creatures....

Jeeeez Taffy!

Sorry to hear that you are going through this! I also didn't realize you were "in that deep" so to speak! Sounds like you have some help and a plan and that's the start to getting it done.

Prayers for you and you all be careful over there! I admire your calmness in the eye of this storm

I can't believe all the damage, the news stations have been showing so much more of it now.

trees in the coast range - blown over or top half broken off
roads washed out or sinkholes, train tracks washed out in the coast range, mud slides...
Vernonia is a muddy mess again after only 11 yrs...
we had a bad flood, wind, ice, snow melt in 96.

In 96 it was more widespread along all the streams and rivers and filled up much of the Willamette valley lowlands with water and affected many more people.

but the weather people all said that was a 100 yr flood some even said 500 yr flood...hhmmm:eek:

Sheesh, Taffy, you didn't tell us that you had all that damage!!!!

I am so sorry, Honey, I hope the clean-up runs smoothly and quickly.

I'll take care of your furries.

Taffy
You are so brave and calm in the face of what seems to be quite a disaster. I'm glad you are safe and hope the cleanup to goes well. Please take care.

Taffy

All your joking and good sense of humor you never let it be known that you also was hit very hard. You only cared about others. You are one of a kind. My prayers are with you and everyone that is going through this bad time.
Joyce

Just checking in before I take off for the day, in case any of you needed a smack down!

Just clearing this up....my house did not get flooded!

My 81 year old dad's did!

So, what family is local (that means lives close by DM, not crazy in the head) will rally and help him get somewhat of a home back.

The sad part for me is....I now will also have to deal with my mother's things that my dad would not let us touch.

I am glad that she is not here to see her pretty things in ruins!

(leaving with a smile on my face..sure that the poop-poop water will have that wiped off my face in about 5 minutes!)

Riverwild 12-08-2007 10:54 AM

Taffy,

I am so glad to hear it wasn't your house. Been there, done that! No more carpet for me, try to keep everything off the floor that matters to me, etc.

OTOH, sorry that your Dad got hit so hard. It cannot be easy at his age to have to see his home in a shambles, especially since he has all your Mom's stuff too.

This may give him a new start on letting go of stuff, but even if it doesn't, he's lucky to have you to lean on.

Bless you and your family and all your neighbors at this trying time.
