IVIGer's......I have a question.........

I have been having IVIG infusions for 7 months now and doing a little better over all. We went out of town over Thanksgiving so I missed an infusion. When I started them again last weekend I had all the original symptoms....achiness and stiffness...... I had another infusion yesterday and about 10pm last night the achiness and stiffness returned and I still feel like death warmed over! Has this happened to any of you when you skipped an infusion? How long did it take to get back on track??
I hope everyone is getting ready for the holidays........they'll be here soon!

Gee Roxie, I'm not sure

what you mean? But if you mean that a delay in the infusions has led to a sort of relapse? Yep I do know that whole set of 'feelings'. It is, one scary set of feelings.
Once you get back on schedule, you should feel better? I think you get yours weekly? If so, it mite take two weeks' worth of infusions, for me, I get mine monthly and once I get infused, it does take me a bit longer to 'bounce back' to my better self. I suggest tho, since you are being scheduled for surgery soon? Talk long and hard to your IVIG prescribing doc and the surgeon + anathesiologist to be sure you are all on the EXACT same page about infusion timing ....to get the best IG benefit for you before and after the surgery. No sense in having all those globulins going to work on the wrong 'job' so to speak. For my own surgeries in the last year plus, I made it clear if they didn't play MY WAY [safely] I wasn't gonna play. I hope this helps even a little bit. Good luck trying to get the docs understanding things tho...that is the hardest part. - j

HI J!
Yep that's what I meant. It was total relapse for me. Even this evening I'm still feeling achy and having some tingling and weakness.......it's the pits! I sure hope my next infusion will get me back on schedule cause I sure don't want one more weekend like this!
I will talk to my dr.s and anesthesiologist this week about my IVIG infusion, that's for that heads up! It does seem my world revolves around my infusion times now.....ugh!
Take care J! Have a great Holiday!
