The elder Bowling, a former assistant coach at Chapmanville, has amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), more commonly known as Lou Gehrig's Disease. The former All-Big East Conference outfielder for WVU also has started a Rick Bowling ALS Fund. Other portions of those funds will go to the family's financial obligations to care for Rick Bowling. Other proceeds will go to an ALS foundation and to a fund a scholarship to be presented annually in Rick Bowling's name to a Chapmanville-area high school student. Donations may be made to: The Rick Bowling ALS Fund, c/o United Bank, 1085 Van Voorhis Rd., Suite 150, Morgantown 26505. http://www.dailymail.com/Sports/200712170172 |
