Welcome Liz to our world of PN

I would encourage you to take a bit of time and read all of the'stickies', the sites at the top of this forum page. They are chock full of information about PN and about research, diagnosis and living with it.

I'd also encourage you to read as many prior posts and threads so youget a feel for what is discussed here and who all discusses what.

I am looking forward to hearing your story as you learn all of ours! - j

Hi,
Just wondering if they won't treat you or are they not able to diagnose you?

Australia is also a continent (besides being a country). It would be helpful if you could tell us what city in Australia. Maybe then, some of our lovely posters here can help you with more information.

Sincerely,

Melody

Brian from Australia would be a good person to talk to about this. He has made great progress with his PN. Very nice guy.

Hi Liz

Where are you? I'm in Sydney, and can help with neuros over here.

Megan 12-27-2007 06:35 PM

Another Aussie - yay!

Hi Liz,

I'm in Melbourne and in a similar boat to you.

First Neuro in August this year, after doing all the obvious tests (for life threatening PN causes) dismissed me. In December I saw another Neuro in Collins Street and am awaiting results of more tests. I'm hoping it wont be a case of deja vu when I see this Neurologist for the return visit on Jan 2nd - but I wonder if it will be!

So can't really help you with a name but suffice to say keep trying and don't accept psychosomatic labels.

Hi Liz, I am country Victoria but travel 2 hours to Melbourne to see an Associate Proffessor of neuro', he was highly recommended to me by a director of a Neuropathy Association in Melbourne, he diagnosed me in his first lot of tests, and i have been healing ever since to nearly a full recovery in approx 4 years.
So based on this, if you are in Victoria i could suggest my neuro, but if you live in any other states, i wouldn't have a clue on any other neuro's that really do know about PN.
Please keep in mind that even with the best neuro's working for you there is always a chance were they can't find a cause [ idiopathic ] but to give yourself the best chance of finding the cause you really do need a neuro that is very experienced with Neuropathy, a normal neuro is not good enough.

Brian :)
