Hello, I am new here...

Hello all, I am a new person here. I struggle with numerous mental health issues, but what draws me to this site the most is to find support in helping my mom deal with her chronic pain. As she gets older, she becomes more dependent on me and I will eventually be her primary care giver. I am having a difficult time watching her go through so much pain. She is on a constant dose of morphine and takes break through meds, but she is still in pain. It breaks my heart to watch her struggle so much. I am also very interested in the Survivors of Suicide forum. I have attempted suicide and I have lost a very close friend and family member to suicide. I look forward to meeting you all.

Hi, DePressMe....

It's very nice to meet you, and I'm glad you found these forums. I'm very sorry that you suffer from ill health, and I feel very bad that your mom is in so much pain. I've been dealing with ever-increasing pain for five years now, and I do know what it's like. The most important thing you can do is to find ways to keep herself out of her own head as much as possible. The more she focuses on things outside her body, the less the pain will register, and the better she will feel. Also, I probably don't need to tell you that a long, gentle hug...just holding her in your arms...is better than any medicine. Believe me, the good feelings of one thing can outweigh the bad feelings of another at times.

Anyway, I'm really happy your here, and I look forward to hearing more from you and getting to know you better. Anything I can do or suggest to help either of you, I am certainly willing. God bless you and your mother, and good luck with everything.
