A few questions....

I have some questions for those who know more than me (basically everyone here lol). I was given IVIG last year to stop the autoimmune attack. My doctor dermined i would no longer need the IVIG. When i asked him what the criteria he had considered was, he said the following: Nerve conduction tests show no damage (before they did) and you haven't shown any symptoms of worsening (weakness, paralysys...). I am still on Imuran. I don't know what the ccriteria to keep taking this drug is. My doctor says i will keep on taking it for a while. Don't know how long, nor waht would determine to stop it in a certain point... So my question is: Do you beleive my doctor choices are right? Or should i consider visiting another neuro to see what he can see about this. I have been getting more tingling. I am affraid a new attack is taking place... Doctor says the clinical exploration is as important as blood work and the exploration shows that my strenght and my reflexes are ok.... My doctor says all my pain is due the previous damage i suffered.... He says i am on the healing stage now... So, should i beleive this??? I don't want to wait til it is too late to take the IVIG???? Can you give me some tips to determine i am on the healing stage....

I also want to ask you guys waht you think about the candida thing. I posted a thread on this and i dind't get many answers. Only Mrs D answered but not exactly on what i asked... I have been thinking about doing the candida diet, taking probiotics and antifungals (doing the regular candida treatment). I am already gluten free. I have lost a lot of weight. I have some concerns about reducing the carbohydrate and sugar intake even more, but if i can get beneffits, i would do it... I am willing to try the candida approach. I have read some articles (none of them scientific) on how people are beneffited. Please just tell me what you think of this... DO you think it is just a worthless idea?? Or do you think it's an approach i, or anyone in a similar situation, should consider??

I have been checking all my blood work. I got tests for thyroid hormones, antibodies, glucose... I realized i never got any nutriotional tests. Aside from B12 (which i have been supplementing for even though i don't really knowing wether i am defficient or not), what do you think are the main minerals and vitamins i should have tested. It is very expensive to have all of them measured. I read Liza Jane's chart but i need some orientation on what the first ones to test should be.

Thank you!!

Monica

you mentioned a while ago about an "acne" treatment.

What did you take and for how long? Was it antibiotics?
If the answer is yes, then you most likely do have Candida.
Doctors can test for this with a blood test.

Hi Mrs D. I took a drug called Vibramycin, which is doxycycline, which is a member of the tetracycline antibiotics group. I took it for a year or perhaps a bit longer. 50 mg everyday. I was also taking contraceptive pills (for a shorter time though).

What is the blood test i would need to take to confirm this?

Thank you

Oh, my....

A year on that broad spectrum antibiotic may have given you Candida overgrowth for sure.

Here are tests:
http://www.cfs-recovery.org/research.htm

Most women would have vaginal issues as well as GI.

Some people just get the stool test:
http://ibdcrohns.about.com/cs/candida/a/candida.htm

Enterlabs does it in US.
https://www.enterolab.com/Home.htm

I don't know what you have there, in Mexico.
If you have a vaginal exam and have Candida, you can assume you
have it GI too.

The doc I had on Thur is having me do this stool test for this candidia. Could you get a test ordered or ask one of your docs about it?Random ? would that diet help for your pain or digestion issue? On the front of weight loss be careful because being underweight causes a lot of issues and it makes it harder for your body to fight. I am not sure if you are but even if you are underfed or undernurished. As for test they will know more but looking over my stuff have you been tested for thyroid, iron, white blood, liver. Also I am assuming you have been tested for many auto immune isues since you have the ivig? Hang in there.
