Hit head?

Sorry to be posting again. Anyhow since I hurt usually and have weird symptoms it is hard to know. Anyhow a week ago I was looking in the car through the door and came back and hit the back of my head. Pretty hard but wasn't crying and didn't pass out. Then yesterday I hit the other side softer though in the bath. That side doesn't hurt but the original does. I have also been more dizzy and head ache this week like I am wearing a helmet. I had a head ache before this too cause of my eyes being so bad. Anyhow my mom said I am being irrational worring about that but I feel off balance and pressure in my head.Almost like I could pass out sometimes and it goes up and down and have had that pass out feeling before this. The eye doc when I went said I would of passed out if bad. Any thoughts I am concerned and hurting and a lot of pressure but not sure if some is from the other issues. Thanks

HI! How are you feeling this evening? I think if you are still having headache pain you should go to the ER this weekend to be checked......just to make sure it's not something serious. Let us know!

daniella 01-12-2008 09:36 PM

Thanks. I don't know maybe I am worring and am just sensitive but thank you. I fear everything turning into the horrible leg pain. I am super sensitive and I hit it pretty hard and that was a week ago so I think if something bad was going to happen it would of by what I read just paying in pain.I will keep you updated if it gets worse I will have it checked.

I just saw this thread. I whacked myself in the head one time with my car door lid. I went to step backward and close it at the same time and forgot the garage door was closed. Not enough room to step backward. I hit myself real hard. I saw stars, but did not go down. I got a concussion from that.

Maybe you should see your doctor about this pain. It may be nothing serious, but better to make sure. I understand your fear.

Where you very sleepy, are felt the need to drop off while walking
feeling you might fall. Most Dr's will tell you when you hit you
head ,have someone watch over you,to make sure you are not
falling asleep, you could hurt yourself worse..Do you have someone
who could help you,I know your in different state now..Also
are you getting sick to your stomack, throwing up. If so you
made need to go to ER or urgent care. But no driving.cab or friend.
If your very sleepy or throwing up,I perfer ER..You just don't
know about a concussion...Why are you feeeling bad about posting,
that worries me.. Hugs to all Sue  ouch!!!! PS i'm a champ
at hitting my old head.

As has been well recorded here before...?

Falling is not a good thing! Do call docs and ask...Um er duh? IS this NORMAL? Let them decide if they want to see you or not.. Bet they will ... run you thru a series of test then go DUH????????
This frustration goes with the territory...I truly hope they find a 'clue' to go on and soon! No human has to go thru this or endure this all.
Only other thing I've got to say, is that: once they 'find' something, they usually can't do much for it?
Depending on whatever IT it is, even then what can be done is so limited, that at times I begin to lose faith..but..that and HOPE are all I've got to go on..:hug: 's and PROMISE ME?
YOu will keep your mind together and do your durndest not to FALL again? I mean, it HURTS! No? - j

Wow Bob got freaked out,he said .J is right and when they get all the
stuff together you have to call them 2 weeks later,to have a nurse
tell you at you age why you HIT your head must be Arthritis take a
Aspirin....A what I take Warafin,oh well forget that ,might cause bleeding.
He said he liked it when the Dr. came to the house and cured you
in your own bed...Bob has gone downstairs with icecream for him
and a girlfriend.

Wanted to know if Mel had a utube ad.lol If this happened a day or
to I think you will be ok. But throwing up and sleeping to much and
hurting worse better get some help...Hugs honey Sue Don't ever fall
on your nose,i mean 3 times.gezzzz

daniella 01-12-2008 10:53 PM

Thanks no I didn't fall. I did what silverlady did somewhat I guess. I was looking for something in the car and went back and hit my head on the rim of the inside of the door. That was a week ago. I didn't cry, black out,or throw up. Then yesterday I hit it lightly the otherside on a door handle in the shower but no falls. That one was lightly the first was hard on the car. I asked the eye doc when I was there and she said they only worry if I passed out or I had blood thinners. I feel like I have a helmet on though but some may be do to the eyes. Also I have been more off balance and dizzy then usual. I really can't take any more problems. I am so sensitive in general not just in the leg area where this started but my whole body.I also read the only thing for a concussion is to rest and to be watched the first day but that has past.Unless you blead internal but I didn't fall from stairs for ex.More worrys and uneeded pain.I don't want to have to go back to the docs because my new internist is not good at all.Or go to the er never plesent.Dahlek you are usuallly right to no answers or relief. When things like this happen I get so mad at myself. Thanks always for your support. You all understand when I get worried like this though my mom is he greatest with my pain sometimes like when I was upset yesterday cause I rehit my head and fear the worst she called me irrational an that is upsetting.Well hang in there all too

Head

Ouch - Hi - thats good that you didnt fall for no reason - but - the fact that you are still having pain and dizziness is worrisome - I trully would just get to the doc and have them take a look (soon?).... growing up I had numerous concusions - adverturesome kid - and as an adult continued trend - now of course with PN had a couple really good ones... learned that when hitting your head hard you really should have it checked - i know some time has gone by but the fact you are still having dizziness and off balance is worth investigation - just to be safe.....

Daniella...
just read what you shared of your experience w/ hitting your head... what hit me first was the erroneous info from eye Dr that IF was "bad" would've passed out. Please check TBI/PCs Forum -- many stories of problems from Head Injury w/out Loss of consciousness.
Whiplash - although Head doesn't hit something outside injury can occur within, by brain being jolted & slammed against skull.

Links/info may provide better understanding of what May be going on . Not all head injuries are concussions or TBI's but some are; even the seemingly & so called "mild" traumtic head/brain injurys can have adverse affects that persistant. repeat head injury esp. those that occur soon after - before the brain has time to heal , can have serious consequences, inc. death (this is often seen in sports --"Second Impact Syndrome")

I'm not trying to scare you nor am I saying you have concussion or TBI but you are experiencing some symptoms-- head pain & pressure; balance & dizziness-- that can be signs of head injury , but also can occur w/ other conditions (sinus, etc)

These "common" complaints are what make head injurys difficult---to Dx & treat. The info. you read RE: concussion is typical but I disagree w/ "first day" scenario.
Last year I was struck in head by wheelchair lift; I was knocked out & my head split open. I did get headache immediately BUT 3 days later, it got Really bad, along w/ nausea, vomitting, dizziness, vision & cogntive problems & more, worse. When I went to ER, was told this "delayed" reaction does occur frequently--day, weeks or even longer before signs * symptoms hit ...
my Tests (CT scan, etc) negative--I didn't have brain bleed --so nothing they could do except give shot for nausea/vomiting and headpain ; was sent home w/ those instructions --about having someone, signs to watch for, and to return if I got "worse" ... I did but didn't get much help from Drs, whom I've learned don't know what to do for "mild" TBI, except try treat some symptoms--such as headaches. I 've had persisting problems from this injury, exacerbated by additional mild concussions & head injurys, mostly from falls.

TBI/PCS is complex & often "controversial" issue... my neuro feels that many of my complaints are from other neuro & chronic pain problems. Perhaps but do feel that my head injurys made these conditions worse, along w/ more dysfunctions--cognitive, emotion, physical--too much & many to list....

many w/ TBi that became PCS (Post Concussive syndrome) know the frustrations of trying to deal w/ manifestations. when do seek intervention many (most) Drs that don't understand nor know how to treat or even Dx these conditions.

Most of these injuries resolve in time but for others it can go on--for weeks, months, even years... with periods of improvements & set backs. Most of these folks & Drs will recommend REST, take care of yourself & allow whatever healing is needed time. Don't do things that cause pain or more problems. When you feel better, then take on more. While PT has helped many, too much exercise or exertions too soon can result in setbacks... Listen to your body (and brain) -- when tired, rest or sleep if /when needed; nurture, be kind not hard on yourself {I need to follow that advice

I wish you the BEST with all your dealing with. I hope this is NOT a head injury with outcomes I've addressed & experienced.
but agree w/ others if your symptoms persist, get worse or you feel something is wrong seek medical intervention.
despite my own frustrations w/ going to ER, & many Drs (inc. "brain injury specialist" -who said he couldn't help) there may be something that does need attention . Vestibular problems frequently occur w/ head injury, I could go on but much said already...
Please check TBI /PCS forum for more info & other's shared experiences.

You are NOT being irrational--you know what you're experiencing & how it feels & affects. I pray this ALL resolves for you, soon...

if there's anything I can do , if you'd like more info (I've done Lots of research on TBI/PCS) need or want more support, or even just to vent, PM me ... I don't always read all threads every day... It's been up & down for me. I'm in a Down again--w/ severe debelitaing headaches, emotionally volitile, & other sensitivies & dysfunctions. It does get worse when I take on too much or get upset, which is often, and that's when things occur that cause more problems. Vicious cycle.... I hope will soon resolve.

wish ALL the Best...

Blessings..
