Hi Mark, I was in an accident eight month ago and had a lot of the head pressure type headaches and tension headaches. I am now taking 20 mg. of amitriptyline (Elavil) and it is helping a lot. It is an antidepressant that can be used for pain in low doses and also helps with sleep and anxiety. It took about three weeks to help my headaches. I have to stay away from caffeine (I try - love coffee) and do not drink any alcohol. You need to drink a lot of fluids and eat a healthful diet and you might want to add some Omega 3 fish oil. Get lots of rest and don't stress your brain.

I need to add that I also don't like to take meds. and have never taken any antidepressants before, but it seems to be the only thing working for me so far.

Thanks for asking Mark! I am a lot better than I was last summer, I think my memory and concentration are pretty close to normal. The dizziness and problems with perception are much better and I don't feel so slowed down any more. I still have headaches, but not so intense any more. It's like I know it's still there but I don't feel it as much, so I don't think about it all the time and that really helps.

I really hope that you get better soon and don't have to deal with this PCS long. Try to tell yourself that the headache is not life-threatening.

head pressure when standing up

hi sissy,
i had really bad head pressure the other day when I went out to get breakfast, which turned into a migraine head acre.I took 800ml ibprofen for the last three days and it and most of the concussion swelling has gone away.but if I walk around or stay standing up for more than 15 minutes the head pressure will start to come back does this happen to you?when I lie down the pressure will go down.it seems when i take the weight of my head the pressure sub sides maybe i dont have a regular concussion?
just trying to get some answers.hope you are doing well
thanks
regards mark

Hi Mark, yes I did have the bad head pressure type headaches where I thought my head would explode. I had those for several month and my doctor prescribed Fioricet and I also took Ativan (anti-anxiety med.) for a couple of weeks. He did not want me to take ibuproven or naproxen because they can cause bleeding and I had bad bruises on my lower legs and also have a sensitive stomach. Do you have any other problems like nausea and dizziness or memory loss?

I recomment that you read the booklet at tbiguide.com, it has a lot of good info. Hope you are feeling better today!
