Feel Worse on Antibiotics???
There is a reaction in infectious diseases called a Jarusch Herxheimer Reaction, where you feel worse when you take antibiotics BEFORE you feel better. IT is called A Jarusch Herxheimer Reaction. MANY people will mistake it as an allergic reaction and go off when they have it- they will not stay on long enough to have the positive turnaround. It happens in syphlis, it happens with Lyme disease and other TBDS.
Here is a description of treating the JH Reaction: http://www.roadback.org/index.cfm/fu...ay_id/124.html You can also look it up anywhere. TBD patients tend to use slang, calling it "a Herx" for short and as a verb, "to Herx", and descriptively, a state of experiencing it as "Herxing". Just a heads up- if you have other red flags for Lyme AND this, make sure you were properly evaluated (tested for ALL TBDs as some tend to be seronegative, thus the presence of one can be a tip off of more). Best wishes, Sarah |
