Heath Ledger dies.....

I just saw on the news where they found Heath Ledger dead today. They found 2 bottles of sleeping pills by his bed.

This is the 2nd actor in 2 weeks that has died from drugs. How sad.

You watch these people on tv or in movies and like a lot of them and feel like it's such a sad thing.

Ada,
Your right, it is so sad. These actors seem to have it all, everything but being happy. I,ve always tried to teach my children that money does not make you happy. Its nice to have, but you need to be happy first. So sad for such a young person.

I know this is so sad. My mum loves his film "Brokeback Mountain"
Sue, you are right money doesn't buy happiness.
Thanks

Heath Ledger is one of our Aussie boys. .
He is quite well known to one of my daughters, although not since he has been in New York.
I believe that whilst incredibly talented he was never a true "Hollywood" and shunned the media and Paparazzi who hounded him.
Heath was taking sleeping pills on his admission and was struggling to find one that actually worked.
He simply had bottles of medications beside his bed not "strewn around his bed" as so suggestingly reported by the press.
Whether this was an accidental death or he felt he was so lost in that world, it is an absolute tragedy.
Why is it that when he has shown signs from the beginning that he was not comfortable with all the hype that goes with the "hollywood lifestyle" could the media not respect his differences and just left him alone in his private life?
My thoughts are with all of those who loved him.

They are saying that something about making the new Batman film disturbed him, he couldn't sleep plus he had pnuemonia. Just seeing the trailers with the make up they have on him is upsetting, thinking about his death & relating it to the movie, he looks so evil, I can see why it was upsetting. I do hope his death was an accident, not that it makes it any better. He was so talented.

Hi,

They did say today he also had Trazadone and another med for anxiety.

I believe he was dealing with severe depression to the point of anxiety attacks, panic attacks, and at times depression so deep that he had trouble keeping going. It kept him from sleeping and he was most likely taking extra meds to try and get him to where he could sleep and relax and to get some relief.

I know how depression is and what it does to a person. He may have not intentionally killed himself. He just didn't know what amount of meds were safe for him to take to get to where he wanted to be.

They say his life was rough. His Mom and Dad got a divorce when he was 10 and he got really shy and retreated into himself. I'm wondering if the split from Michelle Williams didn't maybe bring back those memories along with this movie bringing on the feelings he had about it. I saw pictures of him on the movie and what I saw scared me just to see it.

This brings back my thought though that these stars are not getting the help they need. They are looked at as strong people who are not afraid of anything or they wouldn't be in the limelight. They are looked at as people who don't mind being in crowds. They are expected to work long hours to make a show or a movie and they for some reason think they can do it. They don't know their limits and Hollywood doesn't care if they have a limit.

They were saying today on the View that their needed to be something out there such as the sports world has for drugs and health. I believe they should too, such as required physicals before making a movie and drug testing.

I didn't mean to make it sound like he did it on purpose. It's another case though where drugs were involved and no one was there for him. I think the reason I see this and feel this way is because I do deal with major depression and someone was there for me.

I thought he was one of the cutest stars today and one of the best actors. I think that's why it hit me so like it did and he had so much potential.

Ada,
Hi there, have just heard the latest news and .it seems that there were NO illegal drugs found and all bottles of pills were found with lids on in the bathroom cupboard.
He has taken sleeping tablets and anti anxiety drugs---goodness knows what went wrong.

Heath's mum and dad live here in Perth, together and a very happy family. He had quite a privileged upbringing going to a very expensive Private School and was very, very popular. He was highly intelligent but with his parent's blessing he left mainstream schooling to enter our National Drama school at 16. This was the start of a very busy career.
He spent Christmas here with his family and they reported he was saddened that he didn't have Matilda in his life every day but otherwise seemes tired but happy.
Just shows how the press can write whatever takes their fancy:mad:

Cheers
Tayla:hug:

I wish they would quit with all the drug talk.

But as far as the stars having problems and not being happy, you have to think, they spend most of their time pretending to be someone else. You have to wonder if they weren't happy with themselves before they became actors or if the lines between the character and them get blurred.

I think it is just tragic how his family heard the news. I know by being actors they live a public life but the news show's should be more sympothetic to their friends and families. Now they are also linking him to Lindsay Lohan. That girl can barely breathe with out it being on youtube or on the news so why haven't we heard that before his death?

My heart goes out to his family, Michelle and his daughter, it's bad enough that he died but now they have to deal with all the trash talk and gossip.

Hi,

It is hard to figure out what is wrong and right.

They did say on the news and other shows that there was a divorce between him Mom and Dad when he was around 10.

I did watch several of his interviews that they are showing and he doesn't act just right in them. They say he was very uncomfortable doing them.

I think they said the autopsy will be known in about 2 weeks.

I did hear also that his Dad heard about it over the TV. No one had called him.

It's hard to know what is the truth and what isn't. I do think he had some problems though. He wouldn't have been on the meds if he didn't in his case I don't believe.
