Neuropathic pain, spasticity, spinal lesions

A friend of mine is going through a particularly rough spinal lesion attack (paralyzed from the waist down, etc), and she is using 10 mg of Baclofen a day. I've never used any of these drugs, but she is saying that that isn't even touching the pain.

Can she raise the baclofen up, and to what amount? Can there be any problems from doing that?

(She's between neuros right now ~ awaiting an appt ~ and is in terrible pain...)

Thanks, Cherie

I use 80 mg of Baclofen a day and my neuro said I could go higher than that. I use it throughout the day 10 mg at a time with 30 - 40 mg at night before bed. I can't imagine that one dose of 10 mg would do much for very long. Baclofen is pretty short acting it helps with the spasticity, but it is not for neuropathic pain. She will need something else for that. A lot of people take neurontin for that.

Thanks so much, Holly. I was thinking Neurontin too. I guess she'll have to wait till her appointment next week to get that though.

Thanks for letting me know about Baclofen too.
