Zinc?

I want to start taking a vitamin for my eyes the blepheritis and floater issue too. I am wondering if the zinc amount that it has with the combo of my multi is too much. I read the zinc post but don't get it. So can you just tell me if this is ok. The first one is my multi and the second is the eye vitamin. Thanks

Should be ok Daniella. I am zinc deficient and I take 50mg or mcg a day.

should be enough...zinc

for you. However, you are getting 4mg of copper... I don't think that is a good idea. As you raise copper, you upset the zinc/copper ratio. Did anyone test your blood for this ratio? To see where you are now?

However, this product is better and most elderly are now taking it:

You can buy lutein separately you know. At your age macular degeneration is not a great risk or common.

No by my recent bloodwork I have no deficiencies. All is good. I feel like hell though. So would you just take the leutin? I think I saw one for 6mg. Should I start with that or is this product better? I have my other vitamins so do I need that or will the extra zinc help cause I thought that you should not go over 30mg a day and I already have 15 in my vitamin. This product doesn't have leutin in it though. Thank you again. I really appreciate your input and I feel more comfortable with yours then my docs for some reason.

Iam just curious. What symptoms would you have for the doctor to order a blood test to test zinc / copper ratio?

mrsD 01-30-2008 07:00 AM

suggestions..

chronic acne/skin rashes/skin infections/frequent colds and bronchitis

vegetarian life style

labile moods (excess copper) low zinc = pyroluria perhaps

consumption of drugs that deplete zinc like ACE inhibitors for blood pressure, diuretics, steroids, hormones

loss of smell and taste

These are signs of low zinc.
