don't worry...RIGHT

Ok, so here's the deal. I have had my pulse-pain for 7 days today. (pulse pain is every time my pulse beats, I feel pain) I have taken pain med's for it every day except Sat and Sun (because I wanted to actually go out and do something).

I am worried about becoming addicted to the percocet. I just quit smoking (two months and counting). I have the type of personality that is addictive. I also tend to be someone who is very good at worrying. I have OCD a bit and tend to over think many things.

So, How do we live life and not become addicted to the happy pills?

This thread did not write as well as I wanted it to. I am sure you get my point. Any advice??

I take percocet for pain too, Earl. I quit smoking for 3 years but started again 2 years ago (huge stress issues, thought I could smoke just one, HUH:cool:).

I have an addictive personality also. I just make sure I take the percocet as prescribed by my doctor. I don't take more than is recommended. So far, so good.:) We need to do what we have to in order to handle this lousy disease.

I am addicted to diet coke, coffee (decaf and regular), this board, chocolate etc. etc. etc.:p:p

Good luck Earl! I think you have enough other stuff on your plate right now. I wouldn't sweat the percocet unless you think you have a problem already. Just my not so humble opinion, again :).

Earl, I've never heard of pulse-pain. Sounds awful!

Yes, be careful with those pain pills. I just visited my friend "M" (age 54) in the nursing home tonight.

She had fallen awhile back and was taking pain pills on top of her nerve pills, etc. Then fell some more b/c of the pills. A vicious cycle.

2 weeks ago a friend found M unconscious in her home! Her face was gray b/c her organs were shutting down -- the ER nurse said she would have died in 2 hours if no one had found her.

This on top of the brain injuries she received in a car crash 2.5 years ago. Poor thing.

Glad you are being careful about the pills, Earl. Hope you can get some relief from your pulse-pain.
