Dental treatment in the home
Hi. Has anyone had any dental work done in ther home because they are unable to visit the surgery?
my daughter is house-bound and would like a checkup and clean. |
Hi Peter,
I don't know where you live, but in the USA, most counties have at least one mobile dentist who goes to the homes of people who are house bound. I would suggest that you call your local dental chapter, their number would be in the phone book in the dentists section. Ask them for a listing. If they are not helpful, then either go to google and type in mobile dentist with your town or county or call some dental offices from the phone book and ask if they know of someone who does this. Good luck in your search! Please let us know how you make out! Bryanna Quote:

Have had a bit of a look and they aren't making themselves apparent. The dental association should know. Has anyone actually had experience of home dental treatment? How did it go? |
Hi Peter,
Sorry I missed that little detail about where you were.... I hadn't noticed that before. Thanks for pointing it out! I suppose your best bet would be to contact the Dental Association and see if they can help. Have you explored the internet for a possible lead? Many years ago I worked with a dentist that did some house calls. With the proper mobile equipment, the visits actually went quite well! I sure hope you can locate someone in your area. Let us know how your search is going! Bryanna Quote:

I rang a dentist today and had quite a good chat about home visits. Seems that the home visits or mobile services offered are for dentures, and are not by qualified dentists. I have dashed off emails to the links mentioned so will see what they say. This dentist said that he was the only one who is prepared to visit a home, and that as more of a compassionate gesture than anything else. They can do a check up and scale-providing their insurance company gives the OK. So it might work out OK. Will cost about $200 for the dentist and a nurse out of surgery hours. |
dental house calls
Hi Peter,
I'm so sorry this has to be such an ordeal for you and your daughter! It's just not right!! I would follow up with the dentist that said he would come out after checking with his insurance. IF you don't hear from any of the other ones that you emailed, this one may be your only option at this point. I have no idea if his insurance will cover him on a house call or not. He may have to attach a rider of some sort to his existing policy which may cost him an additional premium. Let's keep our fingers crossed!! Please let us know the outcome ~'.'~ Bryanna Quote:
