Under a Rock
Some of you have seen this before, but I haul it out every now and again when I need to remind myself. I wrote it when a friend was going through a hard time, and I wanted her to know that I really had been there myself. If you've ever crawled under a rock of depression, you might relate:
I have rested my chin on the table and dined At the Under the Rock Café, Licking crumbs from a greasy plate, Wishing the world would go away; I have stirred my soup with a crusted spoon And dropped my tears on the floor; I sipped the dregs from a dirty glass And thought, "I deserve no more." It was damp and moldy and chilly there, The lights were dim and few; The world outside looked grim and mean From a pane I could barely see through. Then I felt a hand on my shoulder, And I turned to snarl and bite, When I saw the kind eyes of my Savior, And His words caused my heart to take flight: "My Child," He said, "I am with you. You've forgotten that you are My own, And wherever you are is a safe place; You're not under this cold rock alone. "I'll stay here with you and hide your soul And give you strength for the day When you take your right place as a Child of the King At the Cleft of the Rock Café." |
Thank you so much for this. *misty eyed* What a gift you were/are to your friend.
I, too, have been to the "Under the Rock Cafe". Like here, my God pulled me out and I'm so thankful. Again, thank you so much for this. KD |
I have never seen that B4. Thank you so much for sharing it. I loved it.
