Does Zanaflex give you wild dreams?
I am on 2mg of zanaflex at night. it has been a God send! it has made the difference between rest and tossing. The thing is...it gives me VIVID dreams! Very life like and very involved and twisted. Convoluted and bizzairre. I swear, some days I woke up feeling like I had been in a movie half the night.
I cut my pill in half, and it helped the dreams, but now the muscle spasms are not behaving. Should I change pills? what are my other choices? What do you like? Do you have big dreams on zanaflex? input would be appreciated. |
I haven't had any vivid dreams!:( Are they interesting ones? :D
I am on tizanidine (generic Zanaflex) I just sleep like a log! That for me, is a good thing, since the spasms used to wake me up all the time! I also take Baclofen for spasticity, maybe that would help you. I'd say let your neuro know what is happening and see what he has to say. He may have other alternatives for you. Good Luck! |
Zanaflex mixed with Cymbalta or certain pain meds can cause this. I take Zanaflex 8mg most nights, but when I was also taking Cymbalta I had vivid dreams and hallucinations.
I am trying to find a new AD, I haven't had any problems since stopping the Cymbalta...it was working very well before I started seeing things on my wall. You might want to let you PCP know about these. |
I take 2 mg of Zanaflex at night and mostly get a good night's sleep - feel very rested but the other night I did have a weird dream that I remembered. Who knows if the pill caused it.

How interesting, Dej, I never gave it any thought. It's possible for me, too. Hm.
I did have wild dreams when I was on Symmetrel and they ceased when I switched to Provigil. Interesting about the Z though, I do still have some great dreams, but they're more entertaining than anything. :) Do you feel that it's disturbing your rest or traumatizing you? If so, definitely call your doc, kiddo, no point in dealing with another issue. There is Baclafen and Flexeril that I know of. |
I'm on 5mg of Rebif for severe RLS. It works very well but have also noticed very vivid and action packed dreams. To the point that I will talk outloud, punch, and kick in my sleep. Many times waking me and my wife up.
I have to admit though, some of the dreams are pretty cool!:D |
I never put that together, but yes, I've been having some wild dreams lately...not always good ones. Of course, we know I have issues  LOL!!

I take a 0.25 of xanax at night as well. I wonder if the mix is causing this. I spoke to the MD who said its a "common" complaint about Zanaflex. He will change me if I desire. I see him on the 6th.
my dreams are INTENSE and very real. like freaky real! i am very involved in my dreaming process and even when I am aware that I am dreaming, it doesnt make it less intesne. nice to know Im not alone. :grouphug: |
I had terrible nightmares from Zanaflex! I had to stop taking it every night, and only take it on the nights when I am having severe spasms. I was told that Zanaflex can cause "sleep disturbances". Good luck, I hope you find something that helps you.

The only other med I take is topamax and I had the same problem - scary vivid dreams. I took 4mgs of zanaflex. It really does help though.
