Urinary incontinence

If you've ever had night time urinary incontinence, how did you get that horrid smell of urine out of your mattress?

DH says he can't smell it, but I certainly can. Every time I go into the bedroom I smell urine .......imaginary or not, to me it's still there. It got wet through a couple of months ago.

Any suggestions gratefully received.

Maybe a "Pet Spray" that kills the bacteria? Just a thought :)

Have you already tried baking soda?

The oxyclean works for carpets pretty well...

What about Febreeze??? That's probably your best option....

Good luck

I would try the pet odor neutralizer, followed by fabreeze

Thank you ladies. I'll try both.

I guess I just go to the pet shop and ask about pet deodorisers....

Fabreeze we have in Australia as well.

Once I get rid of the smell, then I have to tackle the stain.

Gosh this disease is fun.................:Noooo:

Thank you again.

I wouldn't worry about the stain! It'll be covered up with the sheets!

You can buy a waterproof bed cover to go under your sheets...they work really well... then you just wash the sheets and the pad and mattress is ok...

Good luck!

There is a baby cleaner I think works well, Totally Toddler. I can always find it at Wal-Mart.

You'll need to get deep into the mattress to completely get rid of the smell. I was thinking a mix of baking soda or Oxy Clean and hot water poured on the bed and left to air dry. If you like a fresh scent add a some liquid air freshener like Febreeze if you must. If it didn't go all the way through to the other side you don't have to flip. But if it did, well you get the idea. To be completely honest, Febreeze made the smell worse for us but all we had was the first one put out there. Maybe the super odor remover will be best.

Vinegar usually works to take away the smell. I would probably dilute it to 25% vinegar to water, if being sprayed on a mattress.

It will take away the smell of cooking fish, if you leave just a cap of it in the kitchen too.
