Wierd toes and feet
 

Hi it's Ginnie here.I wondered if anyone else has the problems with their feet as I am at the moment.For a while my toes feel like they 've got sand in them and things tighteningaround them all the time.My big toes are really painfull ab the area round the nails have been weeping and sometimes bleeding.If anything touches my feet either my hands or putting my shoes on,even the bedsheets its just like electric shocks and if anything touches my big toeI nearly jump through the roof with the pain.I kmow the walking on glass feelings are common with Arach but the pain and wierd sensations in my toes aredefinately getting worse which makes walking harder too.I've mentioned it to my Doc but he didn't even ask to look at them,he just said "probably"when I asked if it was because of the Arach.I'd be really grateful if anyone can tell me if they're having similar problems and if so does anything ease it.Hope I haven't rambled but this really is getting me down.Thanks,Ginnie

seeing a podiatrist for the toes first? Then work your way down the list, so to speak. IF the nails have been 'weeping and bleeding' it could be for that part of it either a fungus and/or ingrown toenails [which I have...the latter that is] The weeping part could be a sign of some infection in the toes and because we usually wear closed shoes, it's very nice place for infections to live. If he/she can clear this up with out new problems happening that'd be great.
IF you use the 'search' feature on the top blue bar and type in Arachnoiditis, you will find many references to this problem...
Going beyond that, you might look into the Peripheral Neuropathy Forum,
http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/forum20.html And then see if what any folks there feel is similar to yours...
For me tho, I'd see a podiatrist first, sometimes these guys have tricks in their bags that regular GP's have no clue about! That my own podiatrist can seem to do miracles with my own numb and dead feet never ceases to amaze me!

Short of the weeping and bleeding, my feet feel like that (it began at the onset of my peripheral neuropathy.) I actually thought our electric blanket was shorting and sending shocks through my feet! I also get the feeling that you get when there is a hole in the toe of your socks and your toe is being strangled in it. I can't feel that great pleasant feeling of wet grass on my feet, nor can I feel my cat's fur with my toes like I used to (she likes being rubbed with my feet) . . . and I often feel like I have been hiking in the snow in wet boots all day and my feet are nearly frostbit . . .but they aren't, it is just the PN.

The weeping and bleeding you should have checked. Beware of podiatrists recommending surgery though. I would see a neurologist first, because you may not want to set up more problems using a surgical approach. Folks with neuropathy tend to have problems with healing injury to extremities.
