Had my facet joint diagnostic
 

Hi all, just popping in to let you know how that went so far.

I did not want to go - worse than any other thing so far, I wanted to not do this. I feel like it's all such guess work and so much has been for nothing, why bother? And it rained for 3 days, we have flood warnings and roads closed like I've never seen.

I felt horrible and tired and just wanted to stay in bed. (okay enough whining lol)

I opted to go with the versed - the doc said I should be plenty alert to know if the shot was working while it was working and he was right about that. I am no more sleepy or confused than usual.

Says a lot about my usual, huh?

The versed was one tiny shot in the hand, the FJD was 5 shots in the left side of my neck. No more painful than any other shot, less that a lot of shots I've had.

I did notice feeling fairly groggy at first (that's wearing off), and the nerve pain in my left shoulder is gone. Left upper arm feels somewhat less achey and weak. Hard to say about my neck, cuz it is really sore from the shots. Never been this sore from anything before, not even tetanus did a number like that on me. Yow. Felt slightly swollen, but seems to be going down now.

Still a wee bit uncooridinated.

So, good news, no horrible side effects and some benefits. All in all, glad I went through with it and will do the follow up injections.

Braver than me...I dont think I could ever let anyone get close enough to my neck to inject me with a needle 5 times!

I have this weird phobia about hurting my neck. Probably comes from whacking my head on the floor of a pool after diving into the 3ft deep section...and then having a 3rd cousin become a quad after he had a diving accident in a lake somewhere here in Nebraska. (that cousin's sister is the relative I have that has MS...she had her big exacerbation the week her brother became a quad. Their mom had two totally paralyzed children at the same time for awhile)

Wow. That's the worst coincidence ever.

I'm not weird at all about needles, but this is way better than most because I do NOT have to see them, lol!

I can NOT stand the sight of blood though. Even a paper cut and I'm fainting.

yeah, my cousins and their mom were having a really bad year that year. At least the MS cousin is a bit better now. I havent ever talked to her, but I've talked to her brother. I havent talked to him since before my MS diagnosis, so I've never really asked him how his sister is. (they're from a branch of the family we only ever see at family reunions)


I am weird about needles. The only reason I can inject myself with copaxone every day is because I cant actually see the needle, and the autoject makes it idiot-proof so that I can just press a button and get the injection. I'd never be able to do it if I had to actually hold the needle in my hands to do the injection.

I cant watch the nurse at my doctor's office give me a shot, or draw blood. I always close my eyes and wait for them to tell me it's over.

Glad you went for it, sis. I hope you get much deserved relief for a really LONG time.

I'm glad all went well, and that you didn't have any ill-effects from the Versed.

Glad it's working for you. Reducing pain is always a good thing.

I don't mind the sight of blood....as long as it's not my own;)
