I Love Publix!!
 

I just did my monthly grocery shopping this morning - love doing it early on a Sunday morning while the store is quiet.

I had two buggies of stuff so the bag boy was helping me out. A lady who works there (assistant manager) walked up to me while we were walking out and put her hand on mine and said "you have a family member with MS, don't you?" I had forgotten I had my 2007 MS Walk sweatshirt on. She pointed to my sweatshirt and said "I have MS". I told her that it was ME that had MS and that I've been dx with it for a little more than two years. She said that she had been dx for seven years.

We talked for a bit and then she said "I want this Publix to be YOUR store - you let me know if there is anything we can do to make it easier for you to shop here and consider it done." I wanted to say "yeah, lower the prices about 3/4 and I'll be thrilled" but I didn't. I just thanked her and got her name so I can ask for her next time I'm in there.

I wanted to tell her "you look SO good" because she did - you'd never know she had MS - but I didn't because I hate it when people tell me that. If they only knew what invisible stuff I'm hiding!

I would continue to shop there even if she had not spoken to me but it's nice to know that she's there - and understands what I go through. :)

What a cool story. Thank you for sharing it. I really miss Publix, I wish we had them here. :)

she's someone that we can all learn from! when people would wear the pink Packer hat ... I was ask if they are wearing it for someone or for themselves ... they are so touched that someone ASKED!!

What? They got Publix stores in Georgia?

I miss Publix. I consider it a cut above Kroger's. We still shop there when we're at our condo on Treasure Island. Now that I'm thinking about it, I miss Barnett Bank... Ex-Miamian here...

I think Publix is employee owned. There's an incentive to go the extra distance. I grew up with Publix. The main warehouse in Lakeland FL was across the street from my grandparents' houses (both maternal and paternal).
