Calling Synesthetes

I know we've discussed synesthesias a little bit on Braintalk before. If any of you with this trait have made it here to this forum. I would enjoy hearing about it again. Can you describe some of what this is like for you? Is it confusing or just different? (i know it's not different for you, just different from the usual scenario)

I've wondered this about my son for a time. In the course of doing some academic placement testing for him this week his response to a question about loud sound can hurt your _'x'___. instead of 'ears' was "it can hurt your 'nose'". Okay...while I can fathom sounds being colors and bothering your 'eyes' or smells being like sounds or feelings, and vice versa every which way, I'm having a hard time relating to sounds actually hurting your nose. He was so adamant about it. At first I thought he might be pulling my leg because he was bored with the stupid easy questions on the test. Besides, he usually says sounds and echos hurt his head (and that is quite obvious to the casual observer from the outside, just about every minute of his day), so the nose comment sort of surprised me.

any comments or personal observations? just fun discussion?
