Vitamin C
Ok doc has said that my adrenals are a bit fatigued per some tests. So I read up on adrenal fatigue.
It recommends high doeses of Vitamin C. 2000-4000mg as well as 800iu Vitamin E and zinc and magnesium. The zinc and E and mag I already take. I was only taking 100mg of Vitamin C with my daily iron. I will say however that always after the C in the afternoon, my energy would perk up a bit. And this last week I took it up to 2000-3000 C and noticed improved energy and less pain. Anyone have any insight on such high doses of Vitamin c and the effects? |

It is water soluble so any excess will flush out of your system - I've read that if you get way too much you may experience diarrhea. |
I am on very high dosages of Vitamin C supplements, per my doctors orders.
You didn't mention who recommend you take that, but, always, always check with your doctor and pharmacist before doing so. Too much Vitamin C can have side effects---and even though it may be water solouble, doesn't mean you won't experience some not so pleasent sid effects. I also want to point out that some medications can interfere with absorbtion and Vit. C can interfere with other meds, so timing can be important depending on what other meds your own. For me, in my specific situation, it is best if I take my Vit C at least 2 hours before or 2 hours after one of my seizure meds in order for neither one of them to interfere with each other. So, honestly, I would not try it without getting your doctors input. PM me if you have any more questions or want some more detalied experiences with it :) . L2L |
The University of Maryland...
has a very good alternative website resource.
Here is their monograph for Vit C: http://www.umm.edu/altmed/articles/vitamin-c-000339.htm and here is Linus Pauling Institute: http://lpi.oregonstate.edu/infocente...inC/index.html Really high doses of Vit C can affect blood glucose tests, and also acidify the urine..and may cause burning on urination if you are sensitive. |
When I was weaning off caffeine the doc suggest I used a high amount of ester c to help with the head aches so maybe it does help relieve pain. He said though it should be the ester c but only for the time I was weaning off the caffeine the high amount not long term. I didn't ask why not long term though.
