burning and sensitivity, but not shingles

I am wondering if anyone else has had a burning and sensitivity that runs from spine to under the breast, only on one side. I had this about 8 years ago and have it again. I want to scream as last time I got run around from docs who told me I had shingles and a rash would develop which it never did. This is quite painful and I need some relief. Just took 800 mg. ibruprofen which I have been doing now for 2 days with no relief. thanks, karen

Welcome to Neurotalk.

I'm sorry you have a situation that leads you here, though.

If what your are describing is nerve-based pain, then NSAID pain relievers are not likely to be much good. There are other meds--anti-convulsants and antidepressants among them--that are usually more effective.

It is possible to have shingles-based neuralgia without the rash--this may be determinable through a blood titer.

In any case, come on over to our Peripheral Neuropathy forum:

Lots of empathy and knowledge over there.

Hi Ms Karen and Welcome to NeuroTalk. Sorry to hear your'e not getting any relief yet. Have you seen a Dr yet? I've had shingles and they are miserable.. Haven't heard of them w/o a rash tho.

Glad you found us; this is a great place for info. Let us know if you figure out what is causing the burning and pain, OK. take care.
