Strange eye problem--

Hi all! Over the weekend, I noticed that when I have my eyeglasses off, and close my left eye, my right eye is seeing double vertically.
I've had eye pain in that one before, about a year ago, the same time that I had double vision vertically in both eyes at once.
I called the eye clinic and made an appt. for Saturday.

Has anyone had this before?
Last year, it went away after a few hours, but this isn't.

Sounds like ON, Debbie. Let us know what the Doc says. Prednizone is very effective in shortening ON duration.

So Sorry, Feel better..

Prednisone can make it more likely to have more recurrances of optic neuritis. IV solumedrol for about 3 days and then an oral prednisone taper is the usual treatment for ON.

eye clinic doc is an ophthalmologist? If not, make an appointment with one!

Thanks all...yep, the doc is an opthamalogist...wouldn't try anything else.
Gosh, I don't want to go on prednisone again. I was on it in Dec. I felt wonderful, almost all sxs dissipated, but I gained 9 lbs and am now just losing it.
I'm also going on vacation to Hawaii in two weeks, and I know this sounds vain, but I'd rather not get all swollen from pred while there...poor me;).

I hope you're all wrong about the ON. This isn't painful, just kind of aggravating. It goes along with the screen I've had in my vision since last summer. It's as if I'm looking through a screen. I can focus, but there's small grey splotches that are see-through throughout my vision. It's not floaters, because I get them, too. This is a bit different.

Thanks for the advice, all. I will ask about ON on Saturday.

FIrst, I would verify "IF" this is ON. Then I would strongly consider NOT doing IVSM before going to Hawaii. The reason, as I understand it, it that the IVSM lowers your immune system response and makes you suseptible to whatever is out there to be exposed. This lower immunity last about 28 days and having IVSM then going to an airport, flying a long time in an airplane, and mixing with people from all over the world, would not be the best thing to prevent exposure to all of the bugs out there.

Just something else to think about.

Ooohhh, thanks for that advice, Craig. That would be really really bad.

Let us know what the eye guy says. I've had a little double vision too. not too bad lately. Same eye - right one - is worse. I finally have ins for vision so I need to make an appt too.

And Hawaii...ahhhh!

With this weather I bet nothing is gonna keep you from going.

Only the in-laws' health...most on my stress list right now. Hope your eye behaves itself!!
