Good Evening from a Newcomer to Neuro

Just found the site and thought I would give it a try. I have quite a few neuro issues; some genetic, some from physical damage to neck, back & joints. Some might say I am a basket case that should just relax and accept my predicament. That though never served me well, and truth be told, I came from stronger stock than that.

What I've seen seems quite interesting so far at this site. I have just gone through another major change with hurtles to jump to put me back "two steps" from where I started 4 months ago. :(

I am looking for information in the following areas: meds (prescription or natural) and/or treatments for CMT (Charcotte-Marie-Tooth); Neuropathic pain / tremors, etc from neuropathic issues related to DDD & DDJ in back and nexk; and neuropathy from joint degeneration from arthritis and physical injuries. I have been on a couple of neuropathy meds including Neurontin and Cymbalta. None of which I am on now because of the anit-seizure meds I am on because of....

I just had 3 aneurysms clamped a month ago and in recovery at home. So far the docs and surgeons are saying that I am having a miraculous recovery, and with the fact that I was walking out of the hospital 8 days later when they expected 2 - 3 months in the hospital recovering maybe they are right,but I have a few issues that came up after surgery. Some memory and personality related, some physical (like I immediately seemed to go into menopause - tho that was a happy side effect as far as I am concerned). Some are physical as in periodic tremors and electric shocks in back and buttocks that I am still not sure if are surgery related or med related.

On top of all the above, I go to a chronic pain / coordinated treatment center for injuries that I sustained in several "fatal" accidents. One of which ended up on CNN because of the fact that my son and I walked away and people kept lining up at the hospital to see the "miracle mom". They even tried to touch me... that was freaky.

There is my log drawn out story. See you in the forums. If you could send me a few links to forums or pertinent info that might be of interest, I would be grateful.

Thanks for the welcome....Dyan

hello dear -

I may not be able to find you more links for information

I walked awy frm being hit by a semitruck and the ER doctors told me by all the photos we have seen
- there is no reason you should be alive now... :D

so I will keave you a little poem
written by William Butler Yeats~~

When you are old and grey and full of sleep,
And nodding by the fire, take down this book,
And slowly read, and dream of the soft look
Your eyes had once, and of their shadows deep;
How many loved your moments of glad grace,
And loved your beauty with love false or true,
But one man loved the pilgrim Soul in you,
And loved the sorrows of your changing face;
And bending down beside the glowing bars,
Murmur, a little sadly, how Love fled
And paced upon the mountains overhead
And hid his face amid a crowd of stars.

Hi Dyan, and welcome to the forum! I am new to this forum, also. I am diagnosed myopathy/denervation of unknown origin....among other issues. I, too have many issues with my spine. I think it comes from the whole disease process.

Hope to get to know you! :)

Hello Dyan and Welcome to NeuroTalk. I am glad you found us. THere are so many wonderfully informative sites (forums) here and helpful, caring members. Just jump in anywhere. I loved the word "MIRACULOUS" in your intro.

That word just jumped out at me. I am amazed at your story, which is proof that MIRACLES do happen. take care and welcome again.

Hi, Dyan. I came here with another problem, but I'm going to go to the Peripheral Neurology forum, too. I've been in one for years, and it's helped so much. Most all of the symptoms you've mentioned are ones you'll hear in the PN section. It's not much fun, but it helps to know you're not the only person in the world with stuff like this.

I'm new here, too, so I'm being vague, I guess. Let me know if you need specific help. When you feel so miserable, it's hard to narrow it down to specifics. You have to let people know what you need somehow.

Having said that, if you'd like to just vent and talk, let me know. I'm a good listener, I've been through all this and still am! I'll check back here or you can email me.

Jon
