What kind of doc?

My pn is in my legs well inner/ankle/foot/calf. It was just in the left but now in both. The right has really gotten bad.I also have something similar to rsd and possible fibro. Well 6 weeks ago I was laying on the floor and got up and pulled my back. Very painful. Well it is still bad and I don't know if it is a muscle pull or related to the legs. I have had all the tests like mri of brain spine, emgs'etc. This was before the back. So my ? is what doc do I go to for the back? To I treat it like a muscle pull or part of this whole other issue?

A neuro doctor I think would be the right direction you should go. I have PN in both of my feet and when this happened last year it was like something in my back just snapped and I had the worst pain. It's not as bad now because I have been going to therapy. My neuro doctor now is having a MRI of my spine done so he can look at whats going on. Can you get another mri of your spine because of this pulled back? Good Luck.

I've had poly neuropathy's,but I would suggest a spine Dr. or a ortho,
because if that was something that happened while getting up and
you didn't have the problem before..You need that back checked no fooling
around..Look it could be a broken rib as long as it didn't puncture you lung,
you would not believe how much that hurts..Nothing much you can do with
a broken rib,but the lung wow..You do need a MRI, calll your Neuro or
GP and tell them what happened and to point you in right direction.
Or go through the ER. I have PN in the spine no fun. Hugs to all Sue

Daniella,

I have recently broken my back (one of those dratted stress fractures). They hurt a lot and some of them need bracing. My neuro picked up on it and had me MRI'd that day. I'd see your neuro.

Good luck Sweetheart.

Billye really sufffered ,they are alfull Bob same thing,I know you young and I
know you hate when someone saids that,as did I at you age. I can't
remember have you had a bone densty test. At this time bracing can
be a pain, but it really works on many..Billye is doing better and that's
a joy. :) Hugs Sue

Thank you all. I just don't know how it could be broken from getting up off the floor. I did have a bone scan and have osteoporosis. The back goes up and down so much but never away. ALways tight and painful but varing degrees. My legs have been more painful too but that just may be my flare up which is very high or maybe a whole combo with the progression of my right too. I feel like it is hard to walk again and it is never easy but lately super hard. Really I am so lost. I guess with my legs and going through so many tests like multiple mri,emg etc and really for what. Before the partial dx and after which there is still a lot unknown for me and it has to be that way but the treatment has been the same. If there was a trapped nerve and they found out yes then it is still the same treatment so why go through all of that? I prey with each new doc I go to to get a winner but I never do. I mean really how many have I seen for no help and sometimes worse. Sorry this is so negative. I feel so frustrated like many here. Thanks I may be young but my real body age like they do on Oz is like 70. I think you guys are right though to the neuro cause they can do more then just an orthopedic and maybe have more input on my legs. You all fighting gives me the strength to.

Maybe a new Neurologist could give some insight into your other problems. I wonder if your legs could also be related to something going on in your back too... I don't recall if you have seen one since your move to Ca. or not.

I know how frustrated you are with all of this. I wish there was something we could do to speed up getting you some help.

If you were my daughter, I think I might go to the doctor appointment with you and perhaps say, "Look, my daughter has been suffering with this for (however long) and no one seems to be able to find out what is the problem. She has seen doctors X, Y, and Z... Surely there is something that can be done to help her, and not just let her suffer like this. What do you suggest next? Who can you refer her to who might be able to help her?" And perhaps, "Will you manage her case for her?"-So that there is some organization in her care... Actually, that might come by starting with a good Internal Medicine doctor who give you a thorough going over...

I know your mom is not there where you live, but is there a chance she could go with you when she comes to visit?

Maybe not even your mom. Maybe a friend, since you probably have no immediate family there to help. If I could, I would hire someone like Glenn to go a couple of my doctors' appointments. He is outspoken, well read on various health problems and doctors do not intimidate him, like they can some of the rest of us...While I don't know him well, I suspect that he presses for answers or information. The presence of an authority figure may play a part in getting some doctors to move more agressively in looking further than the ends of their noses...

It seems like a lot of doctors blow people off, if they cannot immediately see what is going on, or if they are young and maybe less apt to ask pointed questions, or even if they are older and don't press for help.

Wish I could help more,
Cathie

Thanks. You guys do more for me then you know. The issue is I have tried to find a good internist and have seen 3 this year to get a good one with nothing. My mom with me to most before Ca and we got no where. Thank you and I do feel now the back is combo with the legs of course I could be wrong.
