Saturday event to benefit Shongaloo family
February 27, 2008 By Vickie Welborn vwelborn@gannett.com SHONGALOO — Crossroads Deli & Lounge, located at 13531 state Highway 159, will have a fundraising benefit Saturday for the Treece family. Stacey Treece, a 35-year-old single mother of three children, has been diagnosed with Lou Gehrig’s disease. The Shongaloo native is a nurse who will have to depend on her parents — Kenneth Treece, a Webster sheriff’s deputy, and Billie Treece, a retired educator — for help with her children. Adding to the burden, however, is Kenneth Treece’s recent cancer diagnosis. “All have given to the community in some way or the other. Now it is time for the community to give back. So that’s exactly what we are going to do,” Crossroads owner John Moore said in a letter to the community. A pool tournament kicks off the benefit at 4 p.m. Fish plate dinners will be sold for $10 each beginning at 5 p.m. A raffle is set to start at 8 p.m., followed by an auction and karaoke. Wrapping up the fundraiser will be a gun raffle. Donations are still being accepted in the Treeces’ names. For information, call (318) 846-2296 or (318) 578-0648. http://www.shreveporttimes.com/apps/...GNEWS/80227037 |
