Doing research on things posted by others: O/T

I came across this contained as an article link on a page I was reading having to do with celiacs and such. Of course the link title caught my eye...how could it not? I was speechless when I first saw it and now I feel angry and bitter. It figures that they would take this attitude...if this is true and I have no reason to believe it isn't  It doesn't surprise me though and underscores some of the worst things about medicine in the so-called free world.

It's sad, but I think that's the way the game works

It's all about money now. The games that big pharma plays with our lives is inhuman. They don't care and they train their drug reps not to care. I've listened in on the site where all the reps go to chat and it is just so uncaring and commercial. It's all about who can play the game and make the most money.

Yes, the Cafepharma site is an eye opener!
No regard for the patients, and no regard for their bosses either! LOL
That is the kind of person the drug companies choose to sell their live saving products... something to think about! I remember when it was different.

I went on the Lilly board there once, when someone asked about DES...
one of the responses to me was:
Quote:

Lilly carried a lot - 600+ or so - of old time drugs and pharmaceutical necessities in its catalogue until then. None were promoted, and I think they were just around to fill a need for the profession.

But, in the late 90s Lilly gave up on the customer service model and just made available things that made money.
This was on a thread about DES:

I knew it was all about the money but they always denied that in the past. At least they paid lip service to it and now to be so blatant is what really got me! Will we ever get health care for everyone in this country? I have my doubts with this kind of stuff going on. These are powerful companies with lots of money to lobby with. Them and the insurance companies. *Something* has got to give.
