Habituation Exercises for Dizziness
Hi there. I'm fairly new to this board but I will pitch in and say what my experience is regarding nausea and PCS. My initial nausea was due to dizziness or a sense of lightheadedness after my fall, especially when I was moving in a vehicle. The worst of it gradually went away, but even now, 3 months post fall, I do still experience lightheadedness and sometimes nausea.
What's helping me now with this is a set of "Habituation Exercises" I got from a physiotherapist specializing in balance and dizziness. These are like exercises figure skaters do in order to be able to spin without getting dizzy. The exercises seem a bit silly, but they are really working for me. It's like I retraining my brain to orient itself after moving and I'm feeling better. I had a setback a couple of weeks ago and stopped the exercises and the dizziness returned. Since starting up again, I can definitely say they are helping. Good luck MargN |
I use probably some of the same type for dizziness.
I also do some things that I would never think I could again thanks to Physical Therapy. So they are some of the best things that have happened to me. Donna |

this went in cycles--of very bad few days after TBI & in following weeks to days of feeling a bit better when I'd try to eat, drink. then feeling really sick w/ nausea for while. I still get episodes of Nausea & vomiting . GINGER is helpful --if you can get it down. there are other things that can help too. |
