Doctors Report
Doctor has me scheduled for MRI tomorrow and if nothing shows up he is going to try and block that nerve. Has anyone had that done? Going through the mouth. Myrna

I have not had it done, but a friend of mine back in Texas did. He was in a car wreck and damaged some of his nerves.
It appears it was successful. He says the pain is mostly gone. I thought all the pain would be gone, but he said no. I have Chronic Pain and they put me on Avinza. I kept asking for more and more due to the stress the pain was causing. After I hit 180mg a day the Pain Med doctor told me "No More". He told me to reduce it and I told him I was still in pain. He told me it is called "Pain Mgt" for a reason. If your pain is 8-10 (excruciating, to the point of nearly passing out), his goal is to MANAGE the pain. So it is around a 3-4 most of the time. If you have a nerve blocked, it may be the same way. I was also told, if I remember correctly, your body will "work around" some issues. Heart surgery and they remove a Vein from your leg. The body still has to get the blood through that leg, so it "goes around" the missing vein (or is it an artery??). Good luck with it. OH...WAIT... If you have surgery, ask the doctor you are talking to if HE/SHE is actually doing the surgery. A friend of mine (a doctor) went to a MAJOR hospital for open heart surgery and he is pretty sure a student did the actual surgery, with the famous doctor supervising (?), but he has had serious problems since. So when they put an implant in my heart last summer, I asked the surgeon talking to me if HE was the one doing the procedure. He laughed and said yes, he was the only qualified to do it at that hospital. So I always ask about it now.... |
