Fighting the nausea.

How does everyone deal with this dreaded side-effect?

Ever since my Sinemet has been increased from 6-1/2 times per day to 6 regular and one CR at night, I've had the nausea that accompanies the medication.

I never had this before so I know this is in direct relation to the increase in medication. This isn't enough to make me barf, but just enough to make me feel like I'm coming down with a stomach bug, or worse riding in the car with a really bad driver.

I have found that chewing gum seems to help a little bit, but that's kind of hard to do when going to bed. So going to bed means lying absolutely still for at least an hour until the yucky feeling passes.

There's the trade-off. Since increasing the Sinemet with the CR, I have better mobility through out the day. I've never moved better than this for the longest time I can remember - perhaps at least 5 years or more. I guess you can't have everything for nothing in this world.

Yes John..

I've had PD for many years , and nausea has always been an isssue. I was OK on sinemet alone but since i have to use mirapex now, i am sick every day. Can't sleep because of stomch pain and nausea, i go to bed and just lie there in a half-sleep and have bad dreams because of the nausea. I wish that there was something effective for nausea. I've taken the drugs that are prescribed for nausea, but they don't work for me.

Back when I used to get migraines, I was very nauseous and vomiting alot. I took a suppository for the nausea and it helped. That was decades ago, so I don't recall the name of the drug.

I have consistent intolerable nausea and vomiting when I take more than 0.5mg of Mirapex. I was given Tebamide suppositories for when it becomes intractable.

Peppermint works well for mild nausea.

Thanks to all for the suggestions. I chew peppermint gum or eat peppermints. The nausea, as I said not so bad that I do vomit. It's just enough to make me feel yucky.

I did encounter this when I first took the Sinemet, but after that the feeling went away and didn't show up again until I took Mirapex very briefly. After that I was nausea free until now with the increased Sinemet.

My gut feeling is I'll get used to this hopefully soon so the yucky feeling will go away.
