Hi everyone
:)May I come play too? I've been lurking for a while but I'd like to join the fun.
I got my dx in1969 - preMRI- after two very unpleasant years of nasty symptoms and worse doctors. I gave up on doctors then and except for pregnancies I haven't been to one since. Fast forward to last Sat. About 7am I was sitting at the computer lurking as usual when the rt side of my face started feeling very odd, my balance was wonky and my arms and legs refused to be part of the team. It all happened very quickly. To have it come on that rapidly was scarry. I also have never had left side major envolvement before. DH dragged me off to the ER. I am Dr. phobic so my bp was sky high so I got hooked up to everything and anything. I had every test imaginable. Good news - no stroke or TIA. Because I said I had MS they brought in a neuro who asked when when I last saw a Dr. ,when I said 35 years he did't miss a beat and said "Did you get tired of being told you were crazy? You need to know we are the crazy ones"" My day imediately got better. I had a MRI - I realy enjoyed it. I thought the strange noise was facinating. I haven't seen the mri films yet but he confirmed ms. If my legs would have worked I would have tap danced. Even though I had a dx from the days of yore I have never felt confidant that some jerk wouldn't send me back to limbo hell. Please forgive this too long post. I promise to be more concice in the future. I'm just sooo pleased. I must be punchy 'cause I even have follow up appts with the neuro and a gp. |
Sorry to hear about the ER, but it sounds like you lucked out on having a good neuro on call.
Glad you came out of lurking. :) |

Hi there Plum Tuckered!
Love your name and while I'm sorry for the reason you're here, I'm so glad you came out to play and that you found a good neuro who really gets it. BTW, my DH's family is from WV and I asked him if he was familiar with Morgantown - he said that's where his dad went to college. :) Look forward to seeing lots more posts from you. |
Hi Ya Plum..:Wave-Hello: Nice to meet you. :)
It must feel great to finally have a Neuro who gets it!! I never had the pleasure of having a Doc tell me I was crazy. I stumbled into my PCPs office and he said it looks like MS and sent me to a Neuro, who confirmed it, after a Myelogram(sp). I thought they were the crazy ones...LOL Glad you came out of lurkdom....Welcome to the party. |

PT,
Sorry about the recent episode. But I am glad you had a 'good' ER visit. I think that today's doctors are much different that doctors were 35 years ago. There are still bad ones out there. Sounds like you found a good one. At least now you can decide if you want treatment or not. Sounds like you've done pretty well so far. Hope you're feeling better soon. Welcome to the boards :D Kim |
Welcome PlumT
I'm glad you are here posting. What a wonderful ER doc you had. I'm glad you found him, even if the circumstances were, shall we say, unpleasant. :) I'm happy you are seeing more docs, you may be surprised at the changes in medicine/treatment. Keep us posted on the results and stuff. As much as I dislike docs, I've got me some great ones. Hope you do too. I wish you were feeling better already, if not, I hope so soon. Take care. |
Hi Plum http://bestsmileys.com/hello/7.gif and http://bestsmileys.com/welcome/18.gif
So glad you came out of lurkerville to join us!!!! Hope to see you around the boards!!! :) Abbie |
What a funny neuro! Glad it was just plain old MS and not a stroke!
I think the MRI noises are cool too!! Takes my mind off the fact that I'm stuck in a plastic box! |
